How to Heat Treat Cake Mix
Heating raw cake mix makes it safe to use in a non-baked dessert.
Place the cake mix in a bowl (in this case 2 cups) for 30 seconds.
You want the internal temperature to be 165 degrees F.
Allow the cake mix to cool before incorporating into the recipe.
- Put brownie mix in microwave for 30 seconds and let cool.
- Combine brownie mix with cool whip and the other remaining ingredients to the cream cheese. Save a handful of chocolate chips for garnishing.
- Mix together until smooth and fully blended. The batter should be thick.
Step Three: Chill Until Firm
Cover the brownie mixture with plastic wrap or add to an airtight container and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
Step Four: Garnish and Serve

What Can I Serve with Decadent Brownie Batter Dip
You can serve this dip with a variety of dippers. Pretzels, fresh strawberries, other fresh fruit, graham crackers, animal crackers, vanilla wafers, chocolate chip cookies, or any of your other favorite cookies or crackers make delicious dipping options.
Tips for Making the Perfect Dessert Dip
- Choose a good quality brand of brownie mix: The brownie mix is the number one flavor in this chocolate dessert dip so be sure and use a brand you have tested and enjoy.
- Adjust consistency to make it easy to dip: If the dip seems too thick, you can add a little heavy cream, almond milk or whole milk to loosen it up. Add the whipped topping a little at a time because if it’s too runny, you may prefer to use a little less.
- Experiment with flavorings: Enhance the taste of your brownie mix dip by incorporating additional flavorings. You can add a little pure vanilla extract, coffee extract or even a hint of espresso powder to elevate the chocolate flavor.
- For best results use full-fat cream cheese: While you can use low-fat cream cheese, the flavor and texture is best with the full-fat version.
- Don’t forget the chill time: Chilling the dip allows the flavors to come together. It also helps the dip to firm up slightly.
How Long Does Creamy Brownie Dip Last in the Fridge?
This dip typically stays fresh for about 3 to 4 days when stored properly in the refrigerator. To ensure its freshness and quality, make sure you keep it in an airtight container or cover it tightly with plastic wrap. If the texture of the chocolate dip begins to slightly change as it sits and becomes too dense, just give it a good stir before serving.

How can I heat treat the brownie mix without a microwave?

Why do you need to heat treat the brownie mix? I’m genuinely curious.
I know it’s necessary for raw flour but the need for that with boxed cake & brownie mixes is eliminated during processing of the product. I’ve never heat treated any boxed mix ever, or been suggested to do so.
Thanks in advance!
