Howesters on the move! 🚀🌍 This week, a delegation from our university traveled to FHV - Vorarlberg University of Applied Sciences in Austria for the General Assembly and Students' Week of RUN – European University. Directors, staff, and students were all present for an inspiring week full of workshops, presentations, debates, and great encounters. 🙏 Thanks to Howest's membership in RUN EU, we are increasingly engaging in international knowledge exchange. Howest has received a positive institutional review from NVAO 💙 In recent months, our university was evaluated by a committee of national and international experts. "NVAO’s institutional review shows Howest as ambitious, value-driven, and entrepreneurial, with the student at the center," the report reads. "This positive report confirms the innovative and entrepreneurial character of our university," says president Frederik D'hulster. "At Howest, the student is central, and this was clearly recognized by the committee. Our students experience Howest as a safe place where everyone matters, and you can't get better feedback as a university." 💙 On tuesday, we welcomed the Executive Management Board of RUN – European University at Howest, the European alliance that our university has officially been a part of since January. Howest's president Frederik D'hulster, vice president Mieke Demeyere and RUN EU Project Leader Lies Vanhaelemeesch welcomed the international colleagues in Bruges. After an inspiring meeting, the day concluded with a tour of the new campus in Bruges. Wednesday will feature a meeting with all presidents and directors of education. Howest students Thomas Lokere and Andreas Boucquez recently headed to Häme University of Applied Sciences, HAMK in Finland, to participate in a youth exchange school (YES) on communication. 💙 📢 The students took part in the RUN – European University student councils, workshops on communication, and they also had the opportunity to debate with international students. Of course, there was also time for fun. 😉 At Howest, we encourage our students to gain international experiences. 👋 We just waved off Makerere University (Uganda) and Chestnut Hill College (USA) after our successful Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) Globalization & Migration. 👉 For a two-week period, students from Uganda, USA and Belgium participated in this programme and were offered lectures, workshops and field trips on the topic of Globalization and Migration, Together with Pat Vanhecke, Eddy Walakira, Jacqueline Reich, Esther Nanfuka, Sarah De Vriendt, Joni Verstraete, Katelijne Demeyere, johan bertels, we are looking forward organizing a second edition next year! 🙏 Our special thanks go to the Provincie West-Vlaanderen and het wereldhuis West-Vlaanderen for their invaluable support and contribution in making this program a reality. Kick-off of PROMISED 👨🏫🚀 Last week, the Erasmus+ project was launched in Burgos, Spain. 💡 In this project, researchers from Howest School of Education are collaborating with colleagues from five European universities on the integration of multilingual STEAM education in secondary schools (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Mathematics). 👉 A didactic model is being developed for multilingual STEAM education in secondary schools, along with bilingual STEAM teaching materials focused on digitization and sustainability. 🤝 This project is funded by the European Union and is a collaboration between Universidad de Burgos, Universidad de Granada, Senior Europa sociedad Limitada, Centro de Formación del Profesorado E Innovación de Burgos, Univerzita Mateja Bela v Banskej Bystrici. #howestresearch #onderzoek #STEAM #secundaironderwijs #Erasmus+  Rina Dauwens Basiel Bonne Frederik De Laere Verstraete Stefanie
