An exercise in making what is essentially a very simple tune with about four chords sound far more complex. The opening guitar riff was inspired by the opening tune on a ten inch single by German band Jullander, whom we played shows with way back when. In my mind it is a tribute to them. Twin guitars were always such a rarity in Mahonie instead favouring twin bass.
We realised on the news of Tom Verlaines passing the clear influence Television had on us. We like to think of this song as the best tip of the hat we could give.

I have always described Godspeed You! Black Emperor as music for people who have gone through hell and made it out the otherside. You did not come through unscathed, your tired and your scared. But there is hope, there is hope that maybe things can be better. You're terrified of what tomorrow holds but through sheer force of will you'll take one more step forward. Again and again, until one day your out. You will get out. foresttt_png
