You as a young person before, you your mind is already mature to get curious of that, hehe. It was like you are business minded mate. While me as a kid, I only enjoy the advertisements done by big brands. So they hold so many value on my current age.

Anyways, when the brand is already huge, things would have been easier for them to promote and pay the right people to dominate the market evenly. It may be true that the science behind is for the people to not forget them but on my case, I still recognized and would buy products that doesn't have an active advertisement anymore. Though again, it may be due to nostalgia but their quality is also that good.
Sometimes it is not just about how much a brand advertises, but the kind of impression they leave for us to see when they were growing up. True that big brands have an advantage because they already have the money, name and customer base to keep themselves relevant but at the end advertising may bring people to a product, while quality is what keeps them and make them come back later.

When brand A is spending in millions to reach out to customers then no one can know much about brand B that's spending merely $1k to $10K even if the brand B offers better quality products they'll still not reach the customers. The brands that spends money on advertisement and marketing try their best to have the top level products that's why they'll get many retaining customers as well. So marketing is the most important thing for a company without it the growth rate won't be high even if a brand has made the best level products way better than the competitors still they won't be able to sell the products.

A coach once said it’s not the quality nor the advertisement that makes the impression but the story that they tell or sell to people, a product can be low quality or just regular like the cheap ones you get but if the company gives it to big names, people with reputation and say that it’s only those who are reputable that can put on the product that will drive the brand because the average man is trying to be reputable in the society, some make strive to get it to look reputable while some will get it at the time they become reputable which means it has become the goal for many hence they don’t have to do much advertisement nor increase the quality but sell the dream to people.

Customer acquisition is where a brand is created. Even if you create the buzz and spend millions in marketing, what if users are still not ready to use your product? They money spent in marketing is a complete waste in that situation. I have seen brands spending way higher in customer acquisitions because they think they can retain the customer and increase business per head. But customers are too selective. There are a number of competitors out there and it would take no time for these customers to switch brand if they get better offers elsewhere.

If one business had a potential product(which most brands do), they obviously would spend on marketing because they need to reach users in order to introduce their product. Without marketing, they can barely make any profits so they have no other option but to spend on marketing.

That’s definitely how brands are built, it revolves around policies and how these policies are regulated.

However, how do you tell this story without advertisement?

The importance of advertisement in the line of production cannot be over emphasized. Every brand today gets to do some form of advertising in other to go mainstream. Without it, your product can end up being localized and wouldn’t be bought on a large scale as much as you would have wanted.

You might have a good product with great quality and story but, if it isn’t getting to the people that needs to see it, it’s as good as nothing.

I guess what you meant to say here is that people prefer paying for the experience instead of the actual product. Big brands create that experience and they add their product as secondary. They sell experience primarily and only think of their product as a cross-selling opportunity. A very basic example would be Red Bull. They have built their brand around experiences and thrill and energy drink is just a cross-selling opportunity for them. They make way bigger profits by doing so and are also treated as an example by a lot of brands.

There was a time when people preferred purchasing only the necessities and were quite price sensitive but now, people want to purchase luxury, one that makes them look good and for that, they would always rush to brands having better visibility.

That's why YouTube is very rich right now. Just imagine how much money they are taking from all the brands to advertise them. I mean, that could be a lot of money, especially from brands that want to have special treatment and have most of their advertisements be seen every time, not just nationwide, but worldwide.

Here's the tricky part, though. Those big brands need to keep advertising their items through different types of advertising companies, but ever heard of YouTube, Facebook, or X advertising themselves? Either it's very rare, or they are not even paying for advertisement at all.

These big brands are always making adjustments always to their products, they do advert even if they are already known so that they can show people that they have improved more than what they used to do before because some people just complain and bring suggestions, so if the company go through their complaints, they tends to act in the right direction that will bring positive results to their brand and the products they are producing.

Sometimes, due to competition from other new brands or existing brands, they tends to go by the new developments to advertise their products to the new generation that don’t know about them before so that they can maintain their stand in the global market because competition is real and many new companies are coming with good products.

These platforms you have mentioned also engage in advertising because there are competitors fighting for the same market share. I have seen Google advertising YouTube products, and Meta also engages in Cross-Platform promotion. Instagram, WhatsApp, and Facebook will always refer you to Meta Platforms. I have also seen billboards in strategic places advertising these social media platforms. They also sponsor some projects, which is also a major form of advertisement.

When a new product wants to be visibly presented in the market, those products are advertised. And most of the time, I see the highest advertisements for competitive products. However, the general public is never attracted by the brand but rather tends to lean towards less expensive products. Just like my family does. And the main purpose of the brands is to make themselves known among the public and highlight the beneficial aspects. This is how they can easily gain a reputation.

Yes, there are some advertisements that are enjoyable. However, we should certainly ensure that the products are truly effective. Because in most cases, the results are completely different.

Advertising is definitely going to introduce our product to users and a few of them would surely try our product. Only a few from those would consider purchasing the product again. Majority of such people would be a one-time customer because they are highly influenced by the advertisements and they would easily go to any other brand if they see better advertisements. One thing we can do here is to make the product perfect and also handle excellent service.

This is where a customer would actually even consider coming back to you. Retaining customers is a real challenge for big brands. They are ready to spend money on advertisements but those ads should be able to help us generate profits from retaining customers. Even bigger brands can't afford to pay on advertisements every time they sell any product.

Why do big brands constantly advertise? Probably because they understand that being known once is not the same as staying chosen. Visibility is not a one-time achievement, it is a habit brands can't afford to break, and the moment a brand goes quiet, someone else quietly moves into the space it left behind.

Coca cola is primarily advertising to remind people it still exists and is the "premier choice" for those drinkers. Sure, it's advertising might not capture the 45% you speak of but life is full of variety and there are plenty of people out there who for different reasons will simply never be drinking coca cola. Let's face it, it's not a healthy drink but is ok on occasion. Lots of people know it is basically sugar water and actively avoid it for that reason, you're simply not going to win them over because they actively avoid it. The vast majority of advertising is focused on reminding the rest of the people that it should be their staple, go-to choice, because they are already happy to drink it. There will also be new generations who need "reminding" that they should be choosing it first.
