Bridges 03:59
I’ll be right here where you left me, I won’t be hard to find Don’t you mind him, that’s just my old friend time And somewhere along the way I suppose you lost your mind Lovers come and lovers go, oh I have seen my share The tears have fallen from my eyes, there is a river somewhere And the heartache it crushed me, and friend you were not there Chorus Oh you crossed that line and you found yourself alone Maybe the bridges you burn might light your way back home You’ve gazed upon great beauty, you’ve called her by her name Kings have fallen to their knees beholding the same But the sadness covers your eyes, old friend you’re not to blame Chorus Well you crossed that line and you found yourself alone Maybe the bridges you burn might light your way back home Well you crossed that line and you found yourself alone Maybe the bridges you burn might light your way back home
2.
Used to be kinda funny, we was old drinkin’ buddies Oh we’d light them towns on fire, our wildest desires roaming free Tearing down them city streets, rolling down them country roads We was gonna live forever, come hell come highwater come Chorus Now ya got your 2.6. Of bourbon and your party of one And you’re drinking alone, and it’s 4 in the morning In a motel room Well you ain't the first one, to feel that old lonesome Oh I know its hard on you And I know that 80 proof helps ya ease your mind But we gotta get back, oh how I miss all of that The pickin’ in the kitchen, gotta let the music back in again Chorus Now ya got your 2.6. Of bourbon and your party of one And you’re drinking alone, and it’s 4 in the morning In a motel room

Don’t that wind blow so cold don’t these days grow so old And don’t that rain just keep on fallin’ don’t it though And don’t my words cut so deep don’t my booze keep me mean And don’t ya keep on leavin’ oh don’t ya though And don’t that door slam so hard don’t I crawl back to my bar Don’t the tears fill an ocean don’t they though Chorus But we got a lovin’ like no other We got love don’t we though Don’t that sun come peakin’ through don’t a single sight of you Set my heart on fire oh don’t it though And don’t my words like poetry and don’t we get drunk in the street And don’t we sail upon that ocean don’t we though And don’t that country livin’ call don’t the leaves turn in the fall And don’t them little ones come runnin’ don’t they though Chorus But we got a lovin’ like no other We got love don’t we though we got a lovin’ like no other We got love don’t we though We got love don’t we though
4.
As they turn on the lights look to your left Something may be waiting there for you And all the pretty people are already gone all the saints swillin’ down their beers Ya know it's’ somewhere out there, out in the night maybe she’s hidden up in the stars the closer it gets the further it feels when you got nothing much to show for your years Chorus you don’t have to go home but you can stay here Reach into your pockets as you get up to leave maybe there’s something there for you to hold the red and glowing letters point to heaven at the door the storms of life never do seem to clear Chorus and you don’t have to go home but you can stay here you could stay here as they turn on the lights look to your left something may be there for you to hold someday we may find it and it may be too late keep memory close and keep em dear Chorus you don’t have to go home you can stay here You don’t have to go home you can stay here You could stay here
5.
Forty Years on the floor Hell’s broke open her doors again Oh I was young then I guess tomorrow’s never coming no not for me Chorus Was it cold in the morning did you think you’d walk back through that door again? Was it the end of your story did you think you’d ever see her face again? All your tears have fallen Time has gone and forgotten you and me And all she needed was some soft place to land Somewhere to rest easy Chorus Was it cold in the morning did you think you’d walk back through that door again? Was it the end of your story did you think you’d ever see her face again? Was it cold in the morning did you think you’d walk back through that door again? Was it the end of your story did you think you’d ever see her face again?

Didn’t we dream? Every kind of beauty In the Golden Fields you found me Yes we had Dreams the sunlight through the window As she set upon the meadow Yes there were dreams I swear we could taste them Some of them we wasted, don’t time just slip away Chorus We had Kings, Queens and Aces Like a shotgun out of the gates kid We set the pace, didn’t we? But there was always tomorrow You can beg steal and borrow But if ya don’t got the follow through Didn’t we dream? Every kind of beauty Where the mountains meet the valley Yes we had dreams Our little ones come runnin’ The Old folks sit there smilin’ There were dreams I swear we could feel them Some of them believed in Oh don’t time just slip away Chorus We had Kings, Queens and Aces Like a shotgun out of the gates kid We set the pace, didn’t we? But there was always tomorrow You can beg steal and borrow But if ya don’t got the follow through
7.
If I had a dollar I’d sink it in a well And if I had a wish well then I’d wish you well Suppose that I had two I’d wish to start where we begun And if all that should fail I’d wish my heart would turn to stone Chorus Oh my heart my heart if I could turn you into stone I would My heart my heart If I could turn you into stone I would I rid me of your letters but your words I never will I tore up all your pictures but your sad eyes haunt me still Lost my courage in a bottle and my strength it turned to tears I told myself a lie I said it would never come to this Chorus Oh my heart my heart if I could turn you into stone I would My heart my heart If I could turn you into stone Bridge Oh your love is like a pearl found in waters deep Does everything you do remind you of me? Chorus Oh my heart my heart if I could turn you into stone I would My heart my heart If I could turn you into stone I surely would
8.
Baby I Know 03:38
Baby I know we’ve seen some hard times, Heaven Knows this heart of mine At times is hard as a stone When the river runs dry when there's no leaves left to fall Baby I know at the end of it all Our love, oh our love will take wings and fly Chorus And all that you asked for was somebody to carry you home Someone to give you some shelter from the storm Some place to rest easy some way to hold on Baby I know we’ve been dealt some bad cards It’s closing time and we’ve done last call But I hear oh I hear them playin’ our song Chorus And all that you asked for was somebody to carry you home Someone to give you some shelter from the storm Some place to rest easy some way to hold on Some place to rest easy some way to hold on
9.
There ain’t no sadder lonesome sound Than this old city tossin’ and turning in the night A siren tears across the town Momma I swear there ain’t a star up in that sky Chorus I dreamt an open plain I dreamt a mountain stream Some place to call my home But here I sit in this old city all alone There ain’t no sadder lonesome sound A Lovers laughter drifting on the wind on a winter's night Or children playing out in the yard Oh brother I swear the cards you're dealt sometimes they don’t seem right Chorus I dreamt an open plain I dreamt a mountain stream Some place to call my home But here I sit in this old city all alone There ain't no sadder lonesome sound Than that lost love layin’ there dying on the kitchen floor That old t.v. and her endless humm Oh darling I swear we don’t got nothing left to say no more Chorus I dreamt an open plain I dreamt a mountain stream Some place to call my home But here I sit in this old city all alone
10.
That familiar feeling That old aching in my head Each time I leave Oh and the coming back again A man will seek his comfort in the one who holds him but a man must see the writing Oh the sun will rise again Chorus Though love may have her seasons a feather on the wind I won’t lose at love again A world gone mad with sorrow Still at this table I will sit A loneliness unable to break a silence we now live Each new day a wonder Each tomorrow but a gift For who may know the hour The falling of a limb Chorus Though love may have her seasons a feather on the wind I won’t lose at love again

Did the earth split open? Did it drag you under? are the eyes of the people there, are they all glossed over? look out your window, is it all grey thunder clouds you see? There’s a bottle at your bedside Your faithful soldier You’ve lost this battle But the war ain’t over You may drown your sorrows But they will wash up on the shore Chorus Is it really any wonder? Your heavy heart went under you can’t starve a heart of love, fill it full of holes and set her sail Is it really any wonder at all? There stands your philosopher, shaking hands with your poet They’ve been standing in your shadows, but ya didn’t even know it Where lightning meets thunder, is it really any wonder at all? Chorus Is it really any wonder? Your heavy heart went under you can’t starve a heart of love, fill it full of holes and Is it really any wonder? Your heavy heart went under you can’t starve a heart of love, fill it full of holes and set her sail Is it really any wonder at all

about

Bob Sumner believes that music is made to evolve. On latest work, Some Place to Rest Easy, you’ll hear countrypolitan strings alongside ambient sensibilities; tasteful synth tracks followed seamlessly by numbers with dobro and steel guitar. It's an album t hat takes as much inspiration from the audio production of Randy Travis as it does the lyrical soul of Big Thief’s Adrienne Lenker — a melding of eras, sounds, concepts, and stylings that’s informed by the past, but
never bound by it.
