Pop-up Butterflies in your Art Journal

Hello! The technique this month is things that move.
I have made a beautiful 2 page spread in my art journal with butterflies
 >Popping!< out as soon as I open the book!
Isn't it beautiful?

Here's how I made this...

Other supplies used:
  • Journal Page
  • Any patterned paper
  • Distress Markers - Spiced Marmalade, Carved Pumpkin, Picked Raspberry, Mowed Lawn
  • Gelatos - Buttercream, Bubble Gum, Cotton Candy
  • Gesso
  • texture paste
  • Stampers Anonymous Tim Holtz Layered Bricked Stencil, 4.125 x 8.5
  • Lindy's Stamp Gang Spray Ink - Red Hot Poker Orange
  • Versafine Black Ink Pad
  • Ranger Glossy Accents
  • Black Pigment Marker
  • White Cardstock

Begin by stamping the butterflies on the patterned paper.
When dry, fill in the wings with Ranger Glossy Accents. Put that aside to dry.

Scribble all over your journal page with Gelatos. Use a wet brush and some gesso to blend.
Add some highlights with gesso and bubble wrap.

One dry, use a stencil and texture paste to add the brick pattern. Allow that to dry thoroughly before moving on.

Stamp the flowers at the base of the page and color with markers. Stamp the sentiment on white cardstock. Spray the bricks with the Lindy's Stamp Gang Spray Ink.

Cut ou the butterflies and color in the bodies with a black pigment marker if necessary. Fold a few strips of cardstock as below and attach to the back of the butterflies.

Splatter the page with the Lindy's Stamp Gang Ink and allow to dry. Glue your butterflies in place.

You are now finished your journal page!

Here are some close ups of that beautiful texture.

Look how those butterflies pop off the page.

Dragonfly Mini Art Journal Page

Hello Blank Page Muse Fans!  Today, I thought I would share a mini art journal page that was recently added to my Bullet Journal.  This is a 8.2" X 5.5" format size, so the design could be used on an over-sized card as well, or expanded into a full sized 8.5 X 11 page with room to add more stamped dragonflies.

Supplies:
8.2" X 5.5" notebook page
Dragonfly Stamp
Flower border
Happiness Blooms from Within Sentiment Stamp
United Rings Stamp from Hearty Doodles set
Black Pigment Ink
White Pigment Ink
Clear embossing Powder
Distress Crayons [Gelatos or similar water based ink can work, in this case Mermaid Lagoon and Peacock Feathers by Tim Holtz Distress Oxides were used]
Brush [A watercolor brush with it's own reservoir was used in this case]
Water

Instructions:
1. Scribble a mid-range green Distress Crayon across the top of your blank page filling in half of the page.  Taking your blue, scribble from the bottom to the middle of the page. Overlap a bit in the center.

2. Using your brush and some water, brush across the page, blending the crayons and diluting the colors.  Pull edge to edge, drawing out the color to the paper borders.  It should look like a light wash of color framing the heavier colored center. Once  it's all blended out, allow to dry.

3. Once dry, stamp out corner (upper left) to opposite corner (bottom right) in black pigment ink the flower border and emboss.

4. Stamp Sentiment with black pigment ink centered on page, then embossed.

5. Stamp the dragonfly on the left side, near the text and the flowered border stamp. Emboss with the clear powder.

6. Inking up with white pigment ink, stamp the Linked-Circle stamp a bit randomly, filling in some of the negative space and open areas.  Emboss using the clear embossing powder.

I found this page was super easy and an inspirational way to enjoy the beginning of the summer months.

Steampunk Quick Card

Hello!
I’m glad you are here today.
I’d love to share with you a quick tip in using Blank page Muse Steampunk stamps and gelatos
to provide a easy distressed appearance.
Come along let’s get to crafting!

Product List:
Spectrum Noir: Watercolor paper
Fiber Castelle: Green gelato
Creative Embellishments: Frame
Creative Expressions: Oval Chipboard Frame
Hampton Art: Rhinestones
Tacky glue
Double-sided tape

1. Distress the edges of your paper using a pair of scissor or tool
2. Take your thin paint brush and run it across the gelato as if you are painting it.

3. Make sure the brush is dense with color.
You want the edges to be the darkest.
4. Begin with running your brush along the edges.
5. Now begin pulling the gelato, using your brush, from the edges of your tag inwards.
This is going to blend the color in the paper. (works just like distress ink)

6.Stamp the fishnet in black ink, tear the edges of the paper when done.
Use your double-sided tape to adhere the papers together
7. Heat emboss all your chipboard pieces
8. Attach all your altered embellishment to your tag using tacky glue

I do hope you enjoyed the fun quick tip today! Thank you for stopping by today!
We look forward to seeing you next time!

Bold & Bright Postcards!

Hi Blank Page Muse Fans & Followers!

Today I am sharing my process for making colourful postcards with Gelatos and of course Blank Page Muse Stamps!
These are relatively quick and easy to make ( the gel medium drying is the longest part!!) and can be adapted to any of the fabulous Blank Page Muse Stamps!

Supplies:
Blank Page Muse Stamps:
 Dragonfly Top View (Large Size)
6 x 4 Index Cards or Sturdy Card Cut to 6 x 4
Old Book Pages
Gelatos - various bright colours
Gel Medium
Black Archival Ink
Ink Sprays
Scrap white card and scrap kraft card/paper
Postcard Collage Images (or make your own on the computer) - used here collage images by Art Tea Life @Etsy
Embellishments: muslin cloth. cotton
Tools: Scissors, glue, spatula or paint brush, water spritzer
Instructions:
First step is to grab your old book, gel medium, index cards and a spatula or paintbrush.

Tear the book pages into pieces and use the gel medium to completely cover the index cards, make sure you overlap the pages. Once dry trim the overhang with scissors.

Choose 3 or 4 Gelatos in nice bright colours and cover the page by scribbling small boxes to cover the entire page - see picture below. you can use other patterns for different effects. No need to be neat! Be careful not to smudge the colour as you are working.

For this effect we do not want to blend or smudge the colours but we do need to "seal" the Gelatos so we can continue to work on the postcard and keep the colour effect as is. Use the gel medium and a spatula or paintbrush to swipe a layer over the entire card and allow to dry before continuing with the next step.

The next step is to stamp with your choice of background stamps and black archival ink randomly over the postcard background. Also use the stamp pad to edge the entire postcard to give a finished look.

Now to stamp out the images to add to the completed backgrounds. You can make these images plain or fancy!
Stamp the Dragonfly and the "Let the Adventure Begin" stamps on Kraft coloured paper using the Black Archival Ink pad. Fussy cut the Dragonfly and tear around the wording.

Alternatively stamp the Dragonfly and Memories wording on white cardstock and use the water spritzer and ink sprays to "colour" the image with a thin layer of ink (a quick way to colour an image). Fussy cut the Dragonfly and tear out the "Memories" wording.

Now we can add our stamped images to the fronts of the postcards. you can add some muslin scrap and cotton if desired or any other embellishments.

Layer the muslin, cotton and arrange the stamps on the postcard. Adhere everything to the card.

Print your chosen postcard backs on good quality paper - use something with a bit more weight than plain copy paper to add extra strength to the creation. Cut out and adhere to the backs of the postcards. Edge around the postcard with the archival ink to add a finished look.

Postcards are now ready for sending!

Hope you feel inspired to grab your Blank page Muse Stamps and create something!

Scatter Kindness...

Hi Fans!!
Can you believe it's November already??? Xmas is coming - Bah Humbug!!
Today I am sharing a couple of super quick cards using Gelatos and of course Sin City Stamps!!
Hint: You could adapt these for Xmas Cards too by using Xmas Sentiments and Images!!

Supplies:
  • Sin City Stamp Set: Dandelion Wishes with Butterflies
  • White Base Card
  • Embossing Ink
  • Clear Embossing Powder
  • Heat Gun
  • Gelatos
  • Water Spritzer
  • Black Archival Ink
  • Baby Wipe/Paper Towel

Instructions:
As always gather up your crafty goodies as listed above so everything is at hand and because these are quick and easy have several base cards so you can make multiple and have stock on hand!!

Firstly get your plain white base card and your embossing ink pad and stamp the dandelion multiple times at the bottom of the card. Stamp at different "heights" for better effect! Emboss with your clear embossing powder using your heat gun.

Choose two co-ordinating Gelato colours and colour the bottom half of the card as shown below.

Spritz with water and use your finger to rub and blend the colours to the card and "up" from the bottom as shown below.

Use a baby wipe or paper towel to "rub" away the colour from the embossed images and smooth the colour out.

Last step is to use a sentiment form the stamp set and stamp in the top corner with black Archival ink.

Hope you have enjoyed this easy tutorial - great to make multiple cards at once and also great for absolutely any occasion and minimal supplies needed!!!!
Hope you can have a try and share with us at our fun Facebook Group!!!
Have a great crafting and stamping week!
Sharon
