Debut album by Nasum, after several demos, splits and 7'' since 1993. They blended the signature swedish death metal riffs with the speed and agility of d-beat punk. The guitars on the album have a very fast, death metal sound to them but there is absolutely no doubt that this is a grindcore album, with the extreme use of d-beat tempos and hardcore punk riffs.

Cirith Ungol - King Of The Dead

Genre: Heavy/Doom
Country: U.S.A.
Year: 1984

1. Atom Smasher
2. Black Machine
3. Master Of The Pit
4. King Of The Dead
5. Death Of The Sun
6. Finger Of Scorn
7. Toccata In DM (JS Bach cover)
8. Cirith Ungol

2nd album by Cirith Ungol. Interestingly enough the cover creates the same atmosphere as the music: epic, cavernous, gloomy and sinister. The band builds upon the foundation they laid down with the debut, but they manage to take it further. The music is even darker and more sinister, akin to doom metal every now and then. Tim Baker's vocals are something extraordinary !!!

Dark Tranquillity - Skydancer

Genre: Mel. Death
Country: Sweden
Year: 1993

1. Nightfall By The Shore Of Time
2. Crimson Winds
3. A Bolt Of Blazing Gold
4. In Tears Bereaved
5. Skywards
6. Through Ebony Archways
7. Shadow Duet
8. My Faeryland Forgotten
9. Alone

Debut album by Dark Tranquillity. They didn't quite reach the level of fame as At The Gates or In Flames, but this classic clearly places them at the forefront of the genre they helped to create. This release reveals Dark Tranquillity at its rawest and possibly most aggressive, and as groundbreaking as it was, it is not without its flaws.

Arch Enemy - Black Earth

Genre: Mel. Death
Country: Sweden
Year: 1996

1. Bury Me An Angel
2. Dark Insanity
3. Eureka
4. Idolatress
5. Cosmic Retribution
6. Demoniality
7. Transmigration Macabre
8. Time Capsule
9. Fields Of Desolation

Debut album by Arch Enemy. It is a lesson in aggression and subtle melodies. Almost every track features snippets of brilliance on the guitar, as well as surprisingly complex arrangements and strong melodies. Most of the riffs have the Carcass death/groove feel that was present on 'Heartwork' as well, and it mixes very well into the songs.
