Hobbs' Angel Of Death - Hobbs' Angel Of Death

Genre: Thrash
Country: Australia
Year: 1988

1. Jack The Ripper
2. Crucifixion
3. Brotherhood
4. The Journey
5. House Of Death
6. Satan's Crusade
7. Lucifer's Domain
8. Marie Antoinette

Debut album by Hobb's Angel Of Death. Peter Hobbs' project gained some early fame as the other remarkable australian thrash metal band besides Mortal Sin. The classic debut of Hobbs' Angel Of Death is notably heavier than Mortal Sin albums, something very much in the vein of Slayer. Wicked album cover, furious guitar lashes, frantic drumming and a vocal delivery which drops this album deep into the thrash abyss.

Thanatos - Emerging From The Netherworlds

Genre: Thrash/Death
Country: Holland
Year: 1990

1. Dawn Of The Dead
2. Outward Of The Inward
3. Bodily Dismemberment
4. Internal Deceit
5. The Day Before Tomorrow
6. War
7. Rebirth
8. Progressive Destructor
9. Impostors' Infiltration
10. Omnicoitor/Dolor Satanae
11. The Meaning Of Life

Debut album by Thanatos. In later years Thanatos would incorporate more and more death metal tendencies in their music, but here they were still raging thrash metal. This is forty minutes of great riffs, catchy vocal lines, imaginative bass lines and aggressive drumming. Stephan Gebédi does a great job with his vocal delivery, harsh and aggressive yet controlled.

Asphyx - The Rack

Genre: Death/Doom
Country: Holland
Year: 1991

1. The Quest Of Absurdity
2. Vermin
3. Diabolical Existence
4. Evocation
5. Wasteland Of Terror
6. The Sickening Dwell
7. Ode To A Nameless Grave
8. Pages In Blood
9. The Rack

Debut album by Asphyx. They play a filthy doomy death metal style with an organic and authentic sloppy touch. There are some crushingly brutal doomy riffs on the album, but the band play both mid and faster paced parts too. Vocalist/bassist Martin van Drunen is in great form, his voice sounds even more hoarse and cancerous than on Pestilence’s “Consuming Impulse” and combined with the heavy and mostly slow music, it makes for a really extreme experience.

Helloween - Keeper Of The Seven Keys, Part I

Genre: Power
Country: Germany
Year: 1987

1. Initiation
2. I'm Alive
3. A Little Time
4. Twilight Of The Gods
5. A Tale That Wasn't Right
6. Judas
7. Future World
8. Halloween
9. Follow The Sign

2nd album by Helloween, working for the first time with vocalist Michael Kiske, allowing Kai Hansen to concentrate on guitar duties. The band has matured immensely in terms of melody. Not only are the vocal melodies stronger and more memorable than those on their earlier works, but the guitar and bass are taking much more melodic roles in the music. Catchy, energetic, melodic and powerful, Keeper is not only innovative, but enjoyable and memorable to the extreme.

Seventh Angel - The Dust Of Years

Genre: Doom/Heavy
Country: England
Year: 2009

1. Chaos Of Dreams
2. The Turning Tide
3. Exordium
4. Weep Not For Us
5. Abeland And Heloise
6. In Ruins
7. Lamentations
8. The Raven Sky
9. Oswiecim

3rd album by Seventh Angel. The band had moved away from the pure thrash metal of their previous records and began experimenting with slower tempos. There's hints of thrash here and there, but for the most part it's doom metal. The music contains heavy riffs, crunchy guitars, sweeping acoustic passages and dynamic songwriting. There is a mixture of shouted thrash vocals, some clean vocals and death growls as well, which actually work quite well together.

Discharge - Disensitise: (vb) Deny - Remove - Destroy

Genre: Punk/Crossover/D-Beat
Country: England
Year: 2008

1. Blood Of The Innocent
2. CCTV
3. What Method What Madness
4. They Lie You Die
5. Becomes Again And Again
6. Spoils Of War
7. Persuasion-Power
8. Web Of Disadvantage
9. Ignorance Your Surrender
10. Kept In The Dark
11. You Have the Gun
12. Will Deceive You
13. Beginning Of The End
14. No Return

6th album by Discharge. It is, at the very least, a proper representation of Discharge thirty years after the british band formed. Loud, fast, full of riffs and shouting vocals. Short songs with high energy. The guitar work leans more towards crossover thrash than anything else. Rat, the band's new vocalist from the Varukers, also does a fantastic job keeping the spirit of Discharge alive.
