It is an exceptionally solid collection of tracks that bounce between various points in the metal spectrum, but always retain the mysticism that the band have harboured throughout their career. they write songs about Icelandic tales and mythology and although the songs are sung in their native tongue the music just takes you away.

2nd album by Skalmold, a concept album, focused on two siblings named Hilmar and Brynhildur who, seeking honor as warriors, embark upon a journey of conquest and battle. Lesser are the folk moments here, where the viking/epic moments conquer the most part of the release. Awesome vocal delivery, tight rhythm section, adventurous guitarwork and great atmosphere.

Debut album by Skalmold. They have done a good job, combining very nice traditional music and an interesting context. The concept album is based on a viking, Baldur, seeking bloody retribution against a not-of-this-world demon-like creature who murders his family! Aðalbjörn Tryggvason of Solstafir contributed with guest vocals for the songs 'Aras' and 'Hefnd'.
