Marionette, explores themes of fear, control, and manipulation. It’s an emotional and sonic journey that delves into duality—the tension between light and dark, freedom and oppression. Drawing inspiration from Gloria Anzaldúa’s Borderlands/La Frontera: The New Mestiza, the album captures the lived experience of existing between worlds. Bleeth explores the complexities of identity, grappling with the fluidity of self. This includes navigating the intersections of cultural identity, gender expression, and sexuality, embracing the fluidity of being neither fully Cuban nor fully American, neither fully man nor woman, and the ever-shifting spectrum of queerness. It's a reflection of our personal experiences, struggles, and the complexities of living in the borderlands, both physically and metaphorically.

about

“Monarchs” is Bleeth's upcoming album Marionette's lead single. "Monarchs" carries a dual meaning: it refers to the sequoia trees, revered as the "Kings of the Forest," and also to the concept of monarchy itself. This duality highlights the interconnectedness of human societies and the natural world, suggesting that the downfall of both can be attributed to similar flaws: arrogance, self-interest, and a disregard for the long-term consequences of our actions.

lyrics

Burned to the ground
Ashes swirling round
Screaming titans
Red Sun filled with blood
Marching into fire
Monarchs our ancient fathers

Lost in an instance
To human nature
Our selfish ways
Strike again

Monarchs
Thousand-year-old ancient crown

Monarchs
Decapitated to the ground

Charred crowns and broken limbs

Charred crowns and broken limbs

This warning comes from a 1000-year-old tree
An ancient father
Brought to us
To remind you of our mortality

This warning comes
To you and me
This warning comes
To you and me

Shrouded in secrecy I wait to see
