Echoes of Prayer marks the debut album of Bnnyhunna, the Ghanaian-Dutch artist, who’s known for his blend of jazz, hip-hop and Afro rhythms. The album is a culmination of Bnnyhunna’s journey, deeply rooted in his faith and early musical experiences within the church, where he learned to play piano, drums, and guitar. Each track on Echoes of Prayer serves as a heartfelt prayer or conversation with God, expressed through poetic lyrics, vivid visuals, and captivating melodies.

Bnnyhunna, born Benjamin Ankomah, developed his sound by merging his West-African heritage with influences from icons like Quincy Jones, Fela Kuti, Pharrel Williams and Herbie Hancock. His debut project, SINTHA (2021), quickly established him as a rising star, leading to collaborations with artists such as Asake, Rimon and José James, and performances at major festivals like North Sea Jazz and Montreux Jazz Festival. His ability to write, produce, and perform nearly every element of his music reflects his commitment to authenticity and artistic integrity.

Sonically, Echoes of Prayer draws from the golden era of the '70s, blending the grooves of P-Funk, the soulful essence of gospel, and the rhythmic beats of hip-hop. Additionally, Bnnyhuna could rely on contributions on the album from artists like The Cavemen., Jembaa Groove, and Peter Soumah. The result is a fresh, yet timeless sound that bridges the past and the present. With this debut, Bnnyhunna offers listeners a spiritual and musical journey, aiming to connect deeply through the universal language of music.

In 2024, Bnnyhunna saw major successes with a performance for Highsnobiety at Paris Fashion Week and festival appearances at Dekmantel and Zwarte Cross. Moreover, he composed a score for the Dutch National Opera, which will premiere on October 27th. Album singles “SHOULDVE BEEN YOU” and “Calm Waters” have already been released, with the follow-up singles “Communicate” (September 11) and “Silent Chaos” (October 4) leading up to the album’s release on October 11. To celebrate, Bnnyhunna will perform two special album release shows in Utrecht and Amsterdam at the end of October. With an international tour on the horizon, 2025 is set to be the biggest year for Bnnyhunna yet.
