Abbeys

An abbey (Comes from the Latin word 'abbatia' and Aramaic 'abba' meaning father). Its a Catholic or Anglican monastery or convent. Abbeys are under the authority of an Abbot or Abbess, who serve as the spiritual father or mother of the community. The term can also refer to a former abbey, even if the establishment is no longer functioning as an abbey (for example, Westminster Abbey).
