DIY Skinny Slat Wall

I'm going to start this post off by saying, this project is not for the weak of heart or for the rushed. This project took about 70-80 hours of labor in total, but the result is absolutely stunning.This is where we started with this room. 70's wood paneling, cabinets reminiscent of a beaker or ruler, horrible orange tones, the list goes on. So, I came up with the idea of ripping 1×2×8 pine in half when I was building my coat rack area. It ended up costing me half the price for this DIY slat wall design. If I plan on painting the slats instead of staining them, I use primed pine, which is even cheaper than select pine. I know lots of people use plywood, but seeing the unfinished edge of plywood bothers me, so I prefer using solid wood."
