Woman dress with Watteau in pearl gray taffet profiled by scalloped rouches in the same fabric, comb with thread embroidery in a darker tone, falls in scalloped taffet and white valenciennes lace the same as the neckline and skirt with embroidery at the bottom the same as the comb.

"At Louis XIV court, women of noble lineage could have worn this example of a silk costume in varying autumn shades. The shimmering copper- toned over dress is of silk Taft with a front bodice in floral brocaded silk, the lining in almond-green silk. This dress features a bertha of sheer material of a complimentary color and a bodice ending with a vee on front and back.
