Fourth Grade artists started this project by each receiving a laminated landscape and worked with a friend to find the foreground, middleground, backgrounds, and horizen lines in each piece. We did several sketches and then chose our best ones to transfer to the large paper. We worked hard to use lines and patterns in our work to make them interesting and unique. 4th Grade Warm or Cool Birch Trees Fourth grade has been working hard on their mixed media birch trees, for the past couple of weeks. Here's how we created ours.... First, they had to choose if they were going to do WARM colors (Red, Orange, & Yellow) or if they were going to use COOL colors (blue, purple, and green). Then, they painted their backgrounds with Prang tempera cakes, on 12x18 pieces of 90lb paper. After they finished painting, they could start on their birch trees. we used half…

The next day, we chose one paper for the liquid/glass shape and one for lava. Students cut organic lava blobs then chose a coordinating construction paper color for the base and lid.
