Viking Runes

In Norse Mythology the chief of the Aesir Gods Odin impaled himself with his own spear and hung himself on the Norse world tree, Yggdrasil for nine days and nights in order to gain knowledge and perceive the meaning of the runes. Runes were symbols that came from the well of Urd. The Norns used these runes to carry fate that originated from the well up the branches of Yggdrasil and to the nine realms that the tree holds.
