Elements and Principles

This artwork of a tree represents texture because of the way the leaves and the bark are drawn. The leaves are sketched going in different directions with lines in them making it look as if I can feel them. The tree trunk has a ragged pattern going on which makes me feel like I can actually feel the roughness just by looking at it. The texture is greatly shown in this artwork.

POSTCARD: Mail Art: Trees 1
This tree shows texture because of the way the leaves and the bark are drawn. The leaves on the tree are sketched in different directions with lines going through them to make it look like I can actually feel them. The bark on the tree trunk is drawn very rugged which makes it look rough, just how bark on a tree is supposed to be. I can almost touch the whole tree just by looking at it.

This is an example of a pattern because there is kind of a regular repetition happening. It is predictable in the sense that the same artwork will continue to go on forever. There are also funky shapes and designs that prove it is a pattern.
Camouflage
This is a strange but interesting image. I would say it represents balance because it is asymmetrical but symmetrical at the same time. It is difficult to determine. The girl blends in with the beach and the ocean which creates somewhat of an illusion on your eyes. The visual weight of this picture is where the girl is standing to make it look like her outfit blends into the background.
The Tears of the Universe Painting
This shows space because there are a lot of different things occurring in this piece. There are some 2D and 3D objects and they are all over the page. There is distance between the floating building and the man standing on the ground, a long with all the other objects.
This artwork piece represents shape because the whole painting is only made out of tiny circles. Looking far away at it, you just see one full image. But the artist did a good job of making it flat with only circles.

This painting shows value because of the strong visual depth within the dark and light colors. There is also somewhat of a shadow or highlight behind the woman that messes with your eyes and creates the value of it.

This picture shows emphasis because of the colored flowers that stand out in front of the grey-ish background. The flowers are all bright colored which makes the picture pop out.

This artwork represents movement because the guy in this is sprawling towards me. This is an action based piece because he looks mad or angry and ready to fight with claws on his hands. It causes your eyes to think he is going to jump off the page and hit you because of the movement of it.
This artwork piece shows color because there are numerous amounts of diverse colors ranging in it. By using colors that a dog usually isn't, it makes it look very unique and bold. The dog looks realistic but not at the same time because of all the bright and funky colors.
I think this piece represents composition because there are objects in this scene that all kind of relate to one another. The elegant tree in the center makes your eyes follow the rest of the picture, which is the flowers and the sunlight in the back. I can tell that the artist created this depending on the placement of the tree and the other objects.

This image is a great example of unity because it greatly focuses on only these eggs that work together in different ways to create something beautiful. The eggs are all connected in some way. They all are made differently and have diverse designs on them but they all become unified that way.

This shows contrast because the dark colors are in the center while the lighter colors are highlighting the perimeter of this woman all the way to the boundaries of the page. It is also only in black and white/gray colors so the contrast is more prone to show.

This is an example of rhythm because it's an illusion to a pattern. Most people would characterize this as a pattern but you cannot predict what will happen next, therefore it is more like a rhythm. The repetition of the design goes on and on, without a strict pattern.

This piece shows form because you can clearly spot the 3D quality as well as the volume involved. There are many different cubical shapes going on in this artwork and you can greatly see all the 3 dimensional quality happening.

This piece shows line because of the way the camel is drawn. There is no 3D form or actual volume to it, it's just drawn with one simple line all the way through. The camel is an outline and my eyes just followed through all the way from the top of the camel to the bottom.
