"Get in the cockpit."
"Is there a plane?"
"Nope. It's a race buggy."
"With a cockpit?"
"That's just how it came."

Nothing all too funny about this one, sorry to disappoint, but I've got nothing quippy this time.

Huwbot, you threw off my groove! I mean, I love you, but like, my groove...

By in Australia,

Oh, the early 00s.

I only found out that there was a dimension to Racers that wasn't Tiny Turbos in the last few years.

I wish I could go back to that ignorant bliss

Me: I'm sorry, but you threw off his groove.

Huwbot: Sorry! (while falling down)

By in United States,

Are these duel or dual racers? Either one works

By in Singapore,

Drome Racers was the best. I wasn't interested in personally owning any of the larger System vehicles, but I'm glad they existed. I owned many of the smaller ones (the ones that could run on the racetracks that have been RSotD recently) and a couple of the Technic motorbikes. It was cool how there was so much diversity in these builds yet they managed to make it work and make them feel like a cohesive world. It's one of my favorite things about this theme.

Tell you what, if you got a problem with Drome Racers, you got a problem with me and I suggest you let that one marinate.

Since there are two of them the alternate set name was "Dual Racers"

At least these are whole minifigures, unlike some other Drome Racers....

By in Turkey,

I see a lot of Mad Max like vehicle potential with this set. I'm glad Lego chose to include 4 of each tire. You can go full buggy with any of the vehicles.

2002, huh? So this was released around the time that The LEGO Company was trying to shrug off their losses from chasing unpalatable themes chock full of largely undesirable elements. Hmmm...

By in Germany,

I'm probably in the minority here, but I really like the aesthetic of Drome Racers.

I couldn't agree more. The fact that they managed to have so much diversity within only one wave of sets is quite impressive. You've got System, Technic, minifig scale, micro scale... all in one place, creating one of the most unique set lines ever made by LEGO.
Drome Racers was such an unique subtheme of LEGO Racers, I really wish we got more of it.

LEGO Racers helmets are the BEST!

By in United Kingdom,

Two of them have a contest so they are in fact dual duel racers

By in United States,

The alternate build looks like a bit of a mish-mash while still being somewhat appealing to the target demographic. These were pretty popular with kids, my own included, and there were many race & build events at Legoland and Toys R Us involving part sets from this theme. The pull back motors were very strong. Good times, fun toys.

Judging by the replies, I'm starting to realize that this is a hot take. ':-D
