This 1931 Chrysler CG Imperial is the first of what is believed to be six examples built with custom Convertible Victoria coachwork by the Waterhouse Company in Webster, Massachusetts. The car was delivered to Waterhouse in October 1930 and, after its completion, was placed on display in the lobby of the Chrysler Building in New York City. Beginning in the 1950s, it is said to have passed through the ownership of several Classic Car Club of America members in the Midwest, including two decades with a Detroit-area owner and time in Tom Monaghan’s Domino’s Farms Collection in Ann Arbor, Michigan. After completion of the project, the car participated in the 2006 Pebble Beach Tour d’Elegance and was awarded third place in its class at the following day’s Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. It went on to earn several awards between 2006 and 2008, including Best in Show at the Hilton Head, Ault Park, Meadow Brook, and Keeneland Concours events as well as a class award at Amelia Island. It was then sold in 2008 to Texas collector John O’Quinn, who kept it until his 2014 passing, at which time it was purchased by its current owner.
