What began as the racing engine company of Hans Werner Aufrecht ("A") and Erhard Melcher ("M") in Grossaspach ("G") turned into the most legendary of all Mercedes tuners. They were so successful that Mercedes-Benz took a controlling stake in 1999 and made AMG their performance line. Today they're known for brutal engine performance in all ranges of Mercedes.
