A collage of noise, drones and field recordings aimed at sonically describing the ritualized nature of the Western metropolis. 2016 cd on Coherent States.
Harsh noise whiplashes collide with musique concrète created with microphones, guitars and an array of acoustic and electric instruments. 2016 tape on Coherent States.
I love the concept behind this group. They create electro-acoustic improvisations consisting of three people employing dictaphones and one person on double bass with a very avant-garde sound. The result is a paradise of forward-thinking musique concrete of the highest quality. Highly recommended. 2016 tape on Coherent States.
Maddening, sprawling and droning harsh noise by Michael Ridge, aka Zebra Mu, owner of one of the most creative and artistic labels, Quagga Curious Sounds. 2015 tape on Coherent States.
Starts as bubbling, fuzzy sounds of an icebreaking ship crashing on the ice shelf but moves on to some reed instrument-free jazz-drone weird, and then back to the icebreaking sounds. Could this be the lounger bar of the ship? 2015 tape on Coherent States.
Danae Stefanou is a professor musicology in Greece and pianist and Michalis Moschoutis is a guitarist and runs the Holotype Editions label. They explore the boundaries of classical guitar and prepared piano, by torturing the instruments through string grabbing, extreme detuning, screeching, and placing thingies on the piano strings. I had the chance to catch them live in presenting this tape and the experience was great. 2017 tape on Coherent States.
Collages and improvisations by the long-standing duo of Glands Of External Secretion, featuring the great voice of Barbara Manning. 2017 tape on Coherent States.
Sindre must really like Janis Ian because he sings again "The Other Side of the Sun" like on Black Paper Wings. I'm also almost sure that after the 4-minute mark of the third track, there's a sample of Led Zeppelin's "Black Dog," please confirm if this is so. If you dig sleazy dictaphone decay and gurgling in microphones, then you know that this is tha shiznit. 2016 tape on Coherent States.
