worm 02:16
Tell me darling would you love me Even if I were a worm Wriggling within the dirt Small and pink and helpless Would you hold me oh so gently Cup me in your weathered palm Keep me warm and safe from harm Love me still forever Tell me darling if you’d love me Even if you were a worm Cause I would still give you the world Make it all your garden We could plant a field of flowers Settle down and watch them bloom Human and worm, me and you Love you still forever (Oooo)

compost 02:30
I'll fall asleep in your car and I'll dream of the things that I’ll do in the morning Don’t wait for me I’m down in the roots of the trees that the sunrise warms Lie in the land while I grow and expand and the bugs one by one are appearing While they meander come and take a gander, here’s where the fungi feed Oh isn’t it nice when the dappling sunlight melts your skin What a way to go I'm composting Friends with the worms that’ll wriggle and squirm through the fistfuls of soil in our pockets Folly of words enveloped in dirt ’til the salt on my tongue dissolves Gather around where the critters abound, it’s a banquet for ants in the leaf mould Bury the sounds of grievances and doubts let the woods put our minds at ease Oh isn’t it nice to envision a life of nature’s bliss What a way to go Im composting Quiet the hum when the figment succumbs, its a regular day in December When all’s said and done, as sure as the sun you’ll awaken and rise again

creatures 04:11
tell me my darling what have we learnt scrounging the scraps for a morsel of worth but youre starved to the marrow in a mouthful of dirt as am i a breadcrumb of solace to share with the weary and tired hear me my darling we’re one and the same human and earthworm by variant name oh what creatures of habit and prey we became by the by but if you’ve made your peace with it, come then what may so shall i see me my darling the sprout of a seed flowering still in a thicket of weeds where a garden once stood now a crisp in the heat burning bright a dwindling ember eclipsed in the smog of a fire show me my darling the hour long gone christen the sky with the ashes of dawn is it too late tomorrow to mend what was lost killing time the blood of an hourglass spilt by the beckoning tide crimson on beige like the phantom of your hand in mine hold me my darling cradling warm breath of the armament losing its form and if you’ll make your peace with me, come then what may so shall i

about

Artemisia, it's January somewhere is a concept EP about whatever you would like it to mean. There's a lot to uncover in these four songs if you're happy to go digging, and perhaps a story may unearth itself to you when it's ready to be found.

This EP was produced in the month of January 2025 for JanuarEP, an annual challenge started by my friend Bill Johnson in which participants are encouraged to complete a demo EP in the eponymous month.

Thank you for listening, and treat yourselves kindly <3
