On this Valentine’s Day I would like to share on my first quilts, a scrappy, pink log cabin. The very first quilt I made was a log cabin. I learned how to quilt by taking a class that taught this block. It is a great place to begin quilting, as one learns how to cut strips and manage the 1/4 inch seam allowance. Log cabins are so versatile, with so many different block arrangements to get so many different looks. After I completed my first quilt, I wanted to make one for my mother, whose favorite color is pink. I collected many different fabrics and my dad paid for the long arm quilting. This was my mom’s birthday quilt one year. Pictured here is the late Claire Louise. She looked so pretty with this background. The quilt and my mom are still surviving nicely today.
