Eric Sloane's "Sunshine and Adobe -- Ranchos de Taos Mission." He was born Everard Jean Hinrichs in NYC in 1905 and died in 1985. In the mid-1930s he studied at the Art Students League under John Sloan and adopted the name "Sloane" in homage to his mentor, and the name Eric from the middle letters of "America." In 1975, after years of visiting New Mexico to paint the landscapes and architecture here, he built a home in Santa Fe and moved here. Sloane produced over 15,000 works in his career.
