Other Considerations: This works best on hardscapes, gravel areas, and trimmed lawns. In small amounts, it won’t kill well-established plants: but use common sense. Avoid applying to garden beds or heavily onto landscaping unless you’re confident in your conditions. In dry climates with clay soils, even light use can be potent—both in stunting unwanted growth and making the soil less welc

Amy Powers on Instagram: "Lilacs need to be pruned within two weeks of the flowers fading. If you prune them in the summer or the fall or early spring, you are cutting the flower buds off for next year. You also want to continually rejuvenate your lilac by cutting the oldest thickest stems back to the ground. We don’t ever want to remove more than a third of the entire plants live wood or else the plant will not produce flowers for three more years. Many lilac shrubs have 30 or 40 stems, which is way too many. Each plant has a finite bank account of energy and when that energy is being divided up 30 or 40 times then each stem doesn’t get much energy and the flowers will be small. If you want bigger flowers, you should have less stems. I recommend removing a third of the stems on each plan
