George Braque was a major 20th-century French painter, his art was done during the Cubism, Modern art, Fauvism, Analytic cubism periods, he preferred cubism as his art style, he also stated: " When objects shattered into fragments appeared in my painting about 1909; this for me was a way of getting closest to the object… …Fragmentation helped me to establish space and movement in space." * quote on fragmentation in painting and the object: “Braque” London 1968
