The Nipa hut (Bahay Kubo) is one of the older forms of housing in the Philippines. It is made with materials such as bamboo, coconut wood, cogon grass, and nipa palm leaves and coconut fronds as roof thatching. Most huts are built on stilts due to frequent flooding during the rainy season.
