Gorgeous Easy DIY closet Makeover! 😍 | This week, my mom and I gave her linen closet a super easy DIY Makeover! 😍 These basic white wire shelves needed a little makeover and what better way... | By The Flipped Piece | This is the easiest way to completely transform your linen closet in a really simple DIY. So, this is the linen closet. It has these white wire shelves and we're going to completely transform this. First thing we did is we headed to Home Depot and my mom and I got three by one pine pieces of strip wood and then we got one giant sheet of birch plywood. We had the guys at Home Depot cut them down for us to the exact length and width of the wire shelves. Next, I brought them outside and I laid them out and I got up my sander and I sanded them down with the two 20 grits so they were nice and smooth. When the guys made the cuts on the plywood, it did splinter a bit so all you need to do is just sand it down really gently and make sure it's smooth around the edges. Next, I took the pieces of plywood and I laid them out to make a stain. I chose the color umber by the silk range from Dixie Belle and I mixed half a cup of water to about two tablespoons of paint and gave it a good mix together. This is the medium that I created to make a really good stain or a paint wash. Then, I used a blue sponge applicator and I really worked it into the plywood and once it was worked in in all the areas in a nice, even coverage, I wiped it back with some paper towel. Once we stain front and back of both the plywood and the pine strips, we applied some gorilla glue to the ledge of the plywood and this would help attach the pine strip lip that we would then use to attach with our nail gun. I'm using an 18 gauge nailer by Ryobi and I'm using two inch brad nails to make sure this goes in nice and secure. Once it was attached and the glue was dried, I got out some clear wax from Dixie Belle and I buffed that into the plywood and made sure it was nice and smooth and all sealed up. Next was the fun part in bringing our creation all together. We then each individually laid the white shelves back on layer by layer and attached each of the faux wooden shelves that we made to cover it. We did this to all four wire shelves until it finally looked like this. As you can see, these fake wooden shelves we created, all you do is just lay them on top of the white wire shelves and they're the perfect way to make it look like you have custom-built wooden shelves and nobody would know the difference. Then, went through everything, got it really organized, added some neutral colors into, make it feel really soft and spa-like. All this organization is really satisfying as well and this is the final result y'all. All in total, wood and the pine strips probably cost us about a hundred dollars but that's the before and this is the after. What do you guys think?
