Top 13 Tips for Successful Soldering
Coming in hot! Soldering jewellery doesn't need to be complicated, so here we share our top soldering tips for jewellers of all levels
Here are some important tips:  • Make your seam nice and tight, and solder will want to get right in there. In this case using the miter jig to file a flat spot on my ring and the setting itself is filed flat giving it a great connection.  • Use minimal solder. The more solder the more you’ll have to clean.  • In this instance placing the solder on the setting VS. the ring itself minimized clean up on the ring.  • Could you sweat solder? Yes? But your setting and ring won’t sit flat once you flow solder onto either surface so I like this technique better!  Hope it helps! Here, I'm using it to solder some earring posts. I make a little divet with a punch or drill bit into the back of the earring where I want the post to be attached.
