Farmer Gracy on Instagram: "Choose your favourite colour combination! Pot size is 40cm but you can do this with smaller pots and fewer bulbs. This would work with any combination of tulips, hyacinths, crocuses, muscari and dwarf iris, so you can get creative with colour and plant your own bulb lasagne for a display like this next spring. Carmen Johnston Gardens on Instagram: "Do you fill your containers with fresh soil every season? I always add fresh soil! You should. Here is my recipe for filling a container! Fill half of the container with mini nuggets. Trust me, it saves money, decomposes over time, and makes the pot lighter if you ever want to move it. Next, fill up with good potting mix. Do not go cheap here…good soil and fertilizer means you will have the best container gardens! #gardening #fall #containergardens #garden"

White Flower Farm on Instagram: "Time to divide those Bearded Iris rhizomes! Doing this in late summer/early fall gives the rhizomes the time they need to establish before cold weather arrives. Here’s what you should know: - Divide your Iris when the clump becomes crowded and bloom diminishes, usually every 3 to 4 years. Bearded Iris go dormant shortly after flowering, which makes summer the ideal time to dig up the rhizomes. - Use a garden fork to dig up your Iris clumps. Iris are not very deeply rooted, so they should come up fairly easily. Work your way around the group of Iris plants to loosen the roots from the soil. - Shake off soil to get a good look at the rhizomes. Now it’s time to divide! - Remove older rhizomes that have no new foliage growth — these will no longer be productiv

Carmen Johnston Gardens on Instagram: "We call it the PUSH! When temps fall into the 80’s in August or September we give our trees and shrubs one more push! We give them a shot of fertilizer. Just a little sprinkle. We have about 6-8 more weeks of the growing season left to Build up the root system storing nutrients for the springtime flush. 1. Use a 10-10-10 2. Make sure the ground is hydrated 3. Water well before and after 4. Wait until temps fall in the 80’s or low 90’s 5. For my friends in Texas and other 🥵 locations just wait until it cools down"
