Camp Trash is the product of two friendships: 1. Friendship America, the short-lived Sarasota band started by brothers Keegan and Levi Bradford and Bryan Gorman, and 2. The decades-long friendship and songwriting collaboration between Keegan and Bryan. After Keegan left Florida, he and Bryan kept in touch by working on music, emailing song demos back and forth. Despite living in separate states, the three friends decided it was time to start a new project with the songs that had been brewing. They formed Camp Trash with no plan of how to record or tour, just a handful of songs and the joy of making things with your friends. Camp Trash signed with Count Your Lucky Stars Records in 2020, released their debut EP Downtiming in 2021, and their first LP The Long Way, The Slow Way in 2022.

Their new album, Two Hundred Thousand Dollars, was recorded, produced, and mixed by James Palko, mastered by Zach Weeks at God City Studios, and features new addition Kyle Meggison (formerly of Worst Party Ever) on drums. The band’s second LP is the product of years of obsession with Fountains of Wayne and Guided by Voices and the desire to write songs that were short, loud, and catchy. The songs are loosely connected character sketches that follow hapless con men, gamblers, cult members, and low level mobsters who dream of something bigger and come up with foolproof plots to get there, but find the journey to be more complicated than they ever imagined.

Big cover up in Denver You won’t catch me up above the water When is it starting, oh so it’s over Parade your movement out to California Ain't it easy going down Take this weight off, off of your shoulders Give me a reason to go along with your plan I can’t imagine there’s life in Oklahoma How the bad luck starts when you come around Take the money, forget Salida and go Not sure the balance is zeroed out Just take the money, forget Salida and go
2.
For the first time in my life I felt it Water washed over my eyes with Lighter science, some distant magic To magnify my way of worship This time I think it’s gonna stick On and on and on and on we go The word, the love, the high alone On and on and on let’s signal them in For the last time in my life I heard the breaks giving out All in slow motion There’s no god like me, with a 50 mile lead You must think that they fell for it The pills, the money, I think they’ll want you to pay They cut off their headlights and drove through the night On and on and on let’s signal them in
3.
I miss the way a room filled up with smoke Signal a good night Fall asleep to the chaos, safe and sound Each soldier fallen down Of the opinion all bets are off By the time you notice, I’ll be out of it By the time you notice, I’ll lose all focus At the corner of Rosario and Newport Some talk of where the body goes They’ll find you hanging high between the X and O’s I love you, but you gotta let it go You know that’s what your ego gets Gettin’ while the gettin’s good They saw you coming a mile away Go down die glowing, keep the score again There’s something going down at the duplex They saw you coming a mile away At the corner of Rosario and Newport Some talk of where the body goes They’ll find you hanging high between the X and O’s I love you, but you gotta let it go I told you before and I’ll tell you again The strong survive and the weak disappear

No Vision 02:38
There you go again, your stupid mouth Wish that you would just shut up Gotta get away from what you’re feeling Another night out on the road Think it’s time we go back home But don’t you wanna burn it all the fuck right down Light at the end of the tunnel, baby Light at the end of the tunnel, baby I just need you to know So it is just what you said Another day lost on the bed Gonna get where you were going but I can’t yet see ahead Light at the end of the tunnel, baby Light at the end of the tunnel, baby I just need you to know I can’t get you out of my head Why does it feel like everything’s collapsing Collapsing in the right direction Everything collapsing Collapsing in the right direction

Alibi 04:04
Staring at the last girl’s song on the karaoke screen Watching words disappear behind the fading yellow submarine Get the hint that your time is up but the light is giving me the green I know you don’t want to talk about it Oh not “Come On Eileen” again Park way too far to walk I'll take the long way home Share the night sky before the sun ruins one Sitting on the tip of your tongue Gatekeeper inside your head with a gun You’re holding out the deeper one Sitting on the tip of your tongue Gatekeeper inside your head with a gun
6.
Did you think that went well, cause I don’t think so Looking out from the window, what luck from shadows on a hill to shovels in the trunk Push it right to the floor, brace for impact Stumble into the next trap, what’s done Is something you’ll never outrun The call that won’t quite matter when it’s said and done Rat out the one good loser, the slack you cut to win it all Doing a lot of “won’t work anyway” It’s all part of the plan Of learning lessons the hard way Anchor in the marshes, something useless Why’d you ask me to do this, you know What’s waiting in the snow Cut me off at the head, like a snake in the grass Trade you in on a fraction of what your worth Hovering in two states, say the word Doing a lot of trying anyway It’s all part of the plan Of learning lessons the hard way Happy to be the one who takes the fall It’s a big dumb love A bigger, better drug
7.
Everyone has their panic line Pushing back the moon to fight over the rise Don’t call me on the telephone You know I’m not here, I’m going out alone Your nice, but nothing like your brother This cult’s got a believer now Sleep on the floor Spent your money getting in the door It’s gone, another lesson at the wheel Working hard doing what you feel like Never needed more than I could fill up Tunnel vision, spit, until you throw up Never needed more than I could fill up Tunnel vision, spit, until you throw up Bellied up in Pasadena Start to get just what you mean when There’s no turning back No such thing stays intact Starving, let’s go grab a bite Then reality hit me out of sight Backed me over, spilled my guts No good thing relies on luck Big cover up in Denver You won’t catch me up above the water When is it starting, Oh so it’s over You can’t say I never tried to warn ya I’m starting to think I’ve overvalued Everything you said to me Once a flower, never again a seed Watch me wither into the place we leave I’m seeing you again, in hell where we begin Back in Pasadena, where all things go They’ll sink you like a stone, I’ll go
8.
Wearing the clothes, and thought you didn’t belong anywhere Bought in, the story your head fills in with the ordinary Buying tickets to New Orleans, blowing hype on a shiny new thing Talk it out, I’m calling it now The party only ends when you walk out And there’s a constant in the correlation Everyone convinces you to start But there’s a constant in the correlation How come you made it out alive I wanna talk about this new sensation I caught you hanging on this new existence Turned into dust, gatherer turned hunter on prescription drugs I'm on the run, already lost You said to turn myself over to the cops You’ve got friends, you’ve got lovers, and then you’ve got these mother fuckers Talking it out, I’m calling it now The party only ends when you walk out And there’s a constant in the correlation Everyone convinces you to start But there’s a constant in the correlation How come you made it out alive I wanna talk about this new sensation I caught you hanging on this new existence

Biker Bar 01:43
Luke’s hands on the wheel Looking so sincere Do you think you can make it in this life? I think you should take the deal Wave him on as a passerby Blow a kiss towards the other guys Wanna make you feel love like you never got Going out of style 40 miles to the nearest town No need for fuel, we’ve got our blood The monster in my skin, makes it crawl Go on ahead, I’ll try to fight em off Queue the light overhead I’ve got another idea You are the snake, you are the garden Why would we talk all of a sudden?
10.
Settle your bets at the racetrack Put yourself in your own shoes Reflect on all the things that you lack Just tell me what to do Come and make me see it right Light the lantern and leave Come and make me see it right Distract the driver take the keys The way the light shines down on you Change your hair, I’ll change mine too The way the light shines down on you Find your way to break right through On the surface, seems like nothing can slow us down Stepping right through the pedal, leave the words back with the sound We’ve got all the time in the world, our last 100 dollar bill A gun, the dust, an unmarked automobile The way the light shines down on you Change your hair I’ll change mine too The way the light shines down on you Find your way to break right through

about

The new Camp Trash album, Two Hundred Thousand Dollars, is a loosely connected collection of stories that follow hapless con men, gamblers, low level mobsters, and cult members who dream of something bigger and come up with foolproof plots to get there, but find the journey to be more complicated than they imagined. Each of their stories revolves around $200,000: getting $200,000, losing $200,000, owing $200,000 to some very important people with some very powerful friends. When they say your life flashes before your eyes, they mean your past. What really happens is you see your future: stretched out, solid, and strung up like a banner in front of you. And in that slowed down moment, you can see what comes next; you can see all the way to the end, all the way to the bottom. These songs take place in that moment.

These characters, however, are just a jumping off point for loud, catchy rock songs inspired by years of obsessively listening to Guided by Voices and Fountains of Wayne. Two Hundred Thousand Dollars was recorded, produced, and mixed by James Palko, mastered by Zach Weeks at God City Studios, and features new addition Kyle Meggison (formerly of Worst Party Ever) on drums. Most of the album was recorded live, the first album where all four Camp Trash members were in the room together with the united goal of writing something that was, above all, fun to play and fun to listen to. Recorded over five days in September 2024, the band worked from the moment they woke up until late in the night, sleeping on air mattresses on the studio floor to save time. What resulted was 10 songs of big guitar indie rock that pay homage to several decades of guitar pop and the character-based storytelling of bands like The Mountain Goats and the Weakerthans.
