Comparison: Black Tie and Stellare Notte

I said a while back that I would do a comparison of Sally Hansen Black Tie and Borghese Stellare Notte.  I picked up Stellare Notte at big lots a while back and noticed the pretty duo-chrome. Then Sally Hansen came up with a duo-chrome that looked kinda similar, and I didn't think I needed it, and I saw it.  So I picked it up to do this comparison for you guys. :)

Comparison:
The first two fingers are  2 coats on their own.
The last two fingers are one coat over Wet N Wild Black Creme.

What do you think? do you have one? or both?

Here's a Health Carolina

So, I am a psychology student at the University of South Carolina, so I decided to do a Carolina Funky French! :)

For this mani I used a Garnet Cosmetic Arts polish. I then stamped on Sally Hansen Silver Sweep with RA101.

Psych Week of Colors: Black

Somehow I stumbled upon a color psychology website, and so I decided I wanted to do a week of colored mani's and give the description of the color from the website.

As a psychology major, I thought this would be a cool thing for me to do since school this week. :)

First up: Black.

"Black is the color of authority and power. It is popular in fashion because it makes people appear thinner. It is also stylish and timeless. Black also implies submission. Priests wear black to signify submission to God. Some fashion experts say a woman wearing black implies submission to men. Black outfits can also be overpowering, or make the wearer seem aloof or evil. Villains, such as Dracula, often wear black."

And what color is more perfect to show you today than Black Tie? :)

This is Sally Hansen Black Tie. It is a beautiful black duochrome that flashes purple to teal and has a black/grey base.

And when I turned the flash on look who decided to show their face:

And a bottle shot because I love you all. This is Stellare Notte vs Black Tie.  They are almost identical. I feel a comparison post coming on...

Thats all for now folks!

Sister Stamping!

My sister really likes my image plates, and she wanted to do her nails with the stamper by herself.  She stamped a few weeks ago, and today she wanted to do it again.

This is what she came up with:

She used an essence color and go grey polish, Sally Hansen Silver Sweep as the stamp, and Red Angel RA106.

The Cure for the Wingless RA Fairies!

OK, so I know alot of ladies have been dissappointed with the fairies on the Red Angel plates not having wings, so I wanted to do a post where I give them wings! And I have just that for you today!

As I show you in a previous post, there are 2 Red Angel plates that the fairies do not have wings.  here is a photo as a reminder:

As a result of a computer malfunction(Im assuming) the fairies are wingless, so they look like dancing girls.

The remedy I have for that is double stamping.

I used HALF of the butterfly on the Red Angel plate RA119, and the Fairy body from RA113, and this is what happened!

I think that it turned out really cool.

I used Wet N Wild Black creme as the base, and Sally Hansen Silver Sweep as the stamping polish.

How to get this look:
  • Choose a very well pigmented stamping color that you know works well.
  • Stamp the fairy body FIRST!
  • if you have a double ended stamper, the small end works great for the butterfly wing, if not, just carefully place the middle part of the wing close to the fairy body.
  • Please note: this will take a few tries to get right.  it took me about 10 tries to figure out the right position of the fairy body and about 10 more to get the wings to match up, but once you figure out the position it is well worth it to end up with pretty fairies with pretty wings!!
I hoped this helps some people out, especially the ones who are heartbroken from not getting fairies with wings.  These things happen, and when they do we can just make them better! :)

I personally like the way my wings turned out better than the fairies that already have wings.. But that is just my opinion!

Double-Holo Tip Mani

Ok, so  I went home and only brought a few polishes with me, and I had to bring along my favorite Color Club, Warhol.  Every time I put it on, it just pops at me.  and of course I couldn't leave it alone, so I did some holo tips!  but not any holo tips... double holo tips.. lol.

I used Color Club Warhol as the base, Color Club FashionAddict as the bottom tip color, and Sally  Hansen Ruby Diamond as the top tip color.  I free-handed these.  Check it out.

day 19 - Glitz Gal

For todays untried I chose Sally Hansen Glitz Gal from the Gem Crush collection.  I put this mani over Jitterbug from yesterday, and I think that I was able to get away with one coat of this glitter, because the base was basically the same color!

I was actually surprised when I opened it up to find a fat brush like this, and as you can see mine was kind of wonky. it was shaped weird, but maybe that is just my brush.

anyway I hope you all are having a good day!

Day 17 - SH Diamond

For todays untried I have Sally Hansen Nail Prisms in Diamond.  It came in the pack with Ruby Diamond.  This one was the non-holographic version, and I think that my pictures do it more justice than it deserves, because it does not look this holographic to me unless it is in direct sunlight.

This is one layer of Diamond over Wet N Wild Ebony Hates Chris.

And I like to do nail art on my manis so I decided to do a zebra print with my black striper! I think that it is an easy to get cool designs.
