Notary

The Office of the Registrar provides notarization service on CalArts-issued verification letters, diplomas, or transcripts. To start the process, students must email the office at registrar@calarts.edu to request this service and specify which document(s) they need notarized. Office will email the appropriate request form (e.g., verification letter, diploma, transcript), which must be completely filled out prior to notarizing requested documents. Please specify one of the preferred delivery methods below in the email.

  • For mailing: Provide the full name and postal address of the recipient.
  • For in-person pickup: Indicate if you or a named third party will collect the documents (a government issued photo ID is required for verification purpose)

Document notarization typically takes five to seven business days after receiving all necessary information, but please allow extra time for replacement diploma orders. After receiving the notarized documents from CalArts, you can submit them to the California Secretary of State to obtain the Authentication Certificate (apostille).

For information on obtaining an apostille in California, visit the California Secretary of State website, or for general apostille requirements, refer to the Apostille US website.

Diplomas

Replacement diplomas are produced using the current diploma template and are available to alumni who have lost their original copy, would like the diploma to reflect a name change or who require additional official copies. Replacement diplomas are $35 per copy.

The form must be completed, and the fee paid directly to the Accounting Office by calling 661-253-7846. Once payment is received, you will receive an eDiploma as well as a physical diploma mailed to you.

Transcripts

Transcripts include all coursework completed at CalArts, as well as any degree or certificate earned. Transcripts also reflect all courses in which the student is currently enrolled. Unofficial transcripts are available to currently-enrolled students via Self-Service under the Unofficial Transcript tab.

Official transcripts can be ordered through the secure National Student Clearinghouse website. CalArts accepts and delivers both electronic and printed transcripts. Processing time varies based on the delivery option chosen. Transcripts for academic records prior to 1995 require additional processing time.

Verifications

The Office of the Registrar provides verification of a student’s enrollment status through various forms and letters. Students are required to to fill out an Enrollment Verification form and specify types of request (i.e., degree, enrollment, gpa). Processing verification documents can take three to five business days and can be emailed or mailed to a physical address.

All third-party verification requests, including those from potential employers, must be processed through the National Student Clearinghouse.
