Description Target support for the proton synchrotron. The Proton Synchrotron (PS) is the oldest and most versatile of CERN's accelerators. The PS was commissioned in 1959 and has been running continuously ever since. With a diameter of 200 metres and reaching a energy of 28 mev, it was for a while the most powerful accelerator in the world.
Description (French) Porte-cible pour le proton synchrotron. Le Synchrotron Protons (PS) est le plus vieux et le plus polyvalent des accelerateurs du CERN. Le PS, mis en service en 1959, n'a pas cesse de fonctionner depuis lors. Avec un diametre de 200 metres et atteignant une energie finale de 28Mev, il a ete pour un temps l'accelerateur le plus puissant du monde.
