An integrated airborne transmission risk assessment model for respiratory viruses: short- and long-range contributions / Henriques, Andre (CERN ; Geneva U.) ; Jia, Wei (Hong Kong U.) ; Aleixo, Luis (CERN) ; Mounet, Nicolas (CERN) ; Fontana, Luca (Unlisted, CH) ; Simniceanu, Alice (Geneva U. ; Unlisted, CH) ; Devine, James (CERN) ; Elson, Philip (CERN) ; Azzopardi, Gabriella (CERN) ; Rognlien, Markus (CERN ; Norwegian U. Sci. Tech.) et al.
This study presents an advanced airborne transmission risk assessment model that integrates both short- and long-range routes in the spread of respiratory viruses, building upon the CERN Airborne Model for Indoor Risk Assessment (CAiMIRA) and aligned with the new World Health Organization (WHO) terminology. Thanks to a two-stage exhaled jet approach, the model accurately simulates short-range exposures, thereby improving infection risk predictions across diverse indoor settings. [...]

In response to the 2020 Update of the European Strategy for Particle Physics, the Future Circular Collider (FCC) Feasibility Study was launched as an international collaboration hosted by CERN. The FCC ‘integrated programme’, described in this report, in a first stage consists of a highest-luminosity electron-positron collider, FCC-ee, serving as Higgs, top and electroweak factory, with a subsequent energy-frontier proton-proton collider, FCC-hh, as the second stage.     The FCC-ee is designed to operate at four baseline centre-of-mass energies, corresponding to the Z pole, the WW pair production threshold, the ZH production peak, and the top/anti-top production threshold, always delivering the highest possible luminosities to four experiments. [...]

Future Circular Collider Feasibility Study Report : Volume 3, Civil Engineering, Implementation and Sustainability / FCC Collaboration
Volume 3 of the FCC Feasibility Report presents studies related to civil engineering, the development of a project implementation scenario, and environmental and sustainability aspects. The report details the iterative improvements made to the civil engineering concepts since 2018, taking into account subsurface conditions, accelerator and experiment requirements, and territorial considerations. Future Circular Collider Feasibility Study Report Volume 1 : Physics and Experiments / Benedikt, M. (CERN) ; Zimmermann, F. (CERN) ; Auchmann, B. (CERN ; PSI, Villigen) ; Bartmann, W. Volume 1 of the FCC Feasibility Report presents an overview of the physics case, experimental programme, and detector concepts for the Future Circular Collider (FCC). This volume outlines how the FCC would address some of the most profound open questions in particle physics, from precision studies of the Higgs and EW bosons and of the top quark, to the exploration of physics beyond the Standard Model. Shaking table tests for seismic stability of stacked concrete blocks used for radiation shielding / Sironi, Luca (CERN) ; Andreini, Marco (CERN) ; Colloca, Cristiana (CERN) ; Poehler, Michael (CERN) ; Bolognini, Davide (Pavia U.) ; Dacarro, Filippo (Pavia U.) ; Lestuzzi, Pierino (Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne) ; Dubois, Frédéric (U. This paper describes the shaking table tests carried out at the European Centre for Training and Research in Earthquake Engineering (EUCENTRE) to investigate the seismic behaviour of four configurations of stacked concrete blocks, commonly used at the European Organisation for Nuclear Research (CERN) as a shielding barrier against different types of radiation. The blocks used for these configurations have been designed to guarantee an adequate level of protection to radiation and, at the same time, to be easily transported and managed for different installations.
