Status and prospects of the LHCf experiment / LHCf Collaboration
The Large Hadron Collider forward (LHCf) experiment at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) measures neutral particle production in the very forward region of proton-proton and proton-ion collisions, aiming to improve hadronic interaction models (HIMs) used in ultra-high-energy cosmic ray (UHECR) simulations. This paper presents recent experimental activities of LHCf. [...]

Reconstruction of multiple calorimetric clusters in the LHCf experiment with machine learning techniques / LHCf Collaboration
One of the major challenges in the Large Hadron Collider forward (LHCf) experiment is the accurate reconstruction of calorimetric clusters when multiple particles hit the same detector tower simultaneously. Traditional reconstruction methods struggle with overlapping signals, especially in events involving more than two particles or a combination of photons and neutrons. [...]

LHCf Run II physics results in proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 13 TeV / Tiberio, A (INFN, Florence) ; Adriani, O (INFN, Florence ; Florence U.) ; Berti, E (INFN, Florence ; Florence U.) ; Betti, P (INFN, Florence ; Florence U.) ; Bonechi, L (INFN, Florence) ; Bongi, M (INFN, Florence ; Florence U.) ; D'Alessandro, R (INFN, Florence ; Florence U.) ; Detti, S (INFN, Florence) ; Haguenauer, M (Ecole Polytechnique) ; Itow, Y (Nagoya U., ISEE ; KMI, Nagoya) et al.
The LHC-forward experiment (LHCf), located at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), is designed to measure the production cross section of neutral particles in the very-forward region, covering the pseudorapidity region above 8.4 (up to zero-degree particles). By measuring the very-forward particle production rates at the highest energy possible at an accelerator, LHCf will provide fundamental informations to improve phenomenological hadronic interaction models used in the simulation of air-showers induced by ultra-high-energy cosmic rays in the atmosphere. Muon Radiography or muography is based on the measurement of the absorption or scattering of cosmic muons, as they pass through the interior of large scale bodies, In particular, absorption muography has been applied to investigate the presence of hidden cavities inside the pyramids or underground, as well as the interior of volcanoes’ edifices. The MURAVES project has the challenging aim of investigating the density distribution inside the summit of Mt. [...]

The forward η mesons production has been observed by the Large Hadron Collider forward (LHCf) experiment in proton-proton collision at √s=13 TeV. This paper presents the measurement of the inclusive production rate of η in pT < 1.1 GeV/c, expressed as a function of the Feynman-x variable. [...]

LHCf plan for proton-oxygen collisions at LHC / LHCf Collaboration
The LHCf experiment is designed to provide precise measurements of very forward neutral particle production from high energy proton-proton, proton-ion and ion-ion collisions. This information is necessary to test and tune hadronic interaction models used by ground-based cosmic rays experiments to extract the average composition of Ultra High Energy Cosmic Rays. [...]

Status and Prospects of the LHCf and RHICf experiments / LHCf Collaboration
Precise understanding of hadronic interactions at high energies is a key to improve mass composition measurements of very high energy cosmic-rays and to solve the muon excess issue observed in high energy cosmic-ray experiments using an air-shower technique. The LHCf and RHICf experiments measures the differential production cross sections of very forward neutral particle as photons, neutral pions and neutrons at LHC and RHIC, respectively. [...]
