Description and performance of track and primary-vertex reconstruction with the CMS tracker / CMS Collaboration
A description is provided of the software algorithms developed for the CMS tracker both for reconstructing charged-particle trajectories in proton-proton interactions and for using the resulting tracks to estimate the positions of the LHC luminous region and individual primary-interaction vertices. Despite the very hostile environment at the LHC, the performance obtained with these algorithms is found to be excellent. [...]

Search for top-squark pairs decaying into Higgs or Z bosons in pp collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 8 TeV / CMS Collaboration
A search for supersymmetry through the direct pair production of top squarks, with Higgs (H) or Z bosons in the decay chain, is performed using a data sample of proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 8 TeV collected in 2012 with the CMS detector at the LHC. The sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 19.5 inverse-femtobarns. [...]

Search for massive resonances decaying into pairs of boosted bosons in semi-leptonic final states at $\sqrt{s}$ = 8 TeV / CMS Collaboration
A search for new resonances decaying to WW, ZZ, or WZ is presented. Final states are considered in which one of the vector bosons decays leptonically and the other hadronically. [...]

Constraints on the Higgs boson width from off-shell production and decay to Z-boson pairs / CMS Collaboration
Constraints are presented on the total width of the recently discovered Higgs boson, Gamma_H, using its relative on-shell and off-shell production and decay rates to a pair of Z bosons, where one Z boson decays to an electron or muon pair, and the other to an electron, muon, or neutrino pair. The analysis is based on the data collected by the CMS experiment at the LHC in 2011 and 2012, corresponding to integrated luminosities of 5.1 inverse-femtobarns at a centre-of-mass energy $\sqrt{s}$ = 7 TeV and 19.7 inverse-femtobarns at $\sqrt{s}$ = 8 TeV. Search for massive resonances in dijet systems containing jets tagged as W or Z boson decays in pp collisions at $\sqrt{s}$= 8 TeV / CMS Collaboration
A search is reported for massive resonances decaying into a quark and a vector boson (W or Z), or two vector bosons (WW, WZ, or ZZ). The analysis is performed on an inclusive sample of multijet events corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 19.7 inverse femtobarns, collected in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 8 TeV with the CMS detector at the LHC. Measurement of double$~\mathrm{J}\hspace{-.08em}/\hspace{-.14em}\psi~$productions with the CMS detector / Ciangottini, Diego (INFN, Perugia ; Perugia U.) /CMS Collaboration
We present the new measurement of the cross section for the simultaneous production of two $~\mathrm{J}\hspace{-.08em}/\hspace{-.14em}\psi~$ mesons in proton-proton collisions at 7 TeV with the CMS detector. The two$~\mathrm{J}\hspace{-.08em}/\hspace{-.14em}\psi~$mesons are fully reconstructed in the $\mu^+\mu^-$ decay and the signal yield is extracted with an extended maximum likelihood fit. [...]

Alignment of the CMS tracker with LHC and cosmic ray data / CMS Collaboration
The central component of the CMS detector is the largest silicon tracker ever built. The precise alignment of this complex device is a formidable challenge, and only achievable with a significant extension of the technologies routinely used for tracking detectors in the past. [...]

The distributed data analysis workflow in CMS assumes that jobs run in a different location to where their results are finally stored. Typically the user outputs must be transferred from one site to another by a dedicated CMS service, AsyncStageOut. [...]

Multi-parton interactions with CMS detector at LHC / Ciangottini, Diego (INFN, Perugia ; Perugia U.) /CMS Collaboration
Multi parton interactions (MPI) are experiencing a growing popularity and are widely invoked to account for observations that cannot be explained otherwise the activity of the Underlying Event, the rates for multiple heavy flavour production, the survival probability of large rapidity gaps in hard diffraction, etc.The definition, implementation and tuning of multi-parton interactions (MPI) models in Monte Carlo generators plays an important role for the LHC physics and provide a better definition of the collision dynamics and a better definition of background processes. CMS was involved into the MPI characterization from the beginning of the LHC data taking, starting from the Underlying Event measurements in Minimum Bias events. [...]
