Thrilled to be spending our 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵 𝗡𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 (𝗚𝗙𝗡) community as one of the newest members — and to dive straight into this study on 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝘄𝗶𝘁𝘇𝗲𝗿𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱. It confirms what many founders feel: 𝗿𝗮𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗮𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁, especially in the early stages — even when impact and motivation are strong. At the same time, it shows how much 𝗲𝗰𝗼𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗻𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀 like GFN matter to unlocking opportunities and confidence. At mydio.com, we’re tackling a complementary challenge: 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗯𝘂𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗲𝗰𝗼-𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 — not only for businesses, but also for everyday consumers. 📣 Is foreign talent essential for Swiss startups? Given the stats, it’s almost a rhetorical question. Around 75% of startups in Switzerland are co-founded by foreigners. That’s not a small detail, that is the ecosystem. Switzerland works because with great universities, strong research, and a high quality of life, it attracts people from everywhere. People come here to study or work… and many end up building companies. But here’s the part we don’t talk about enough: 🔸 We’re really good at bringing talent in. 🔸 We’re not that good at keeping it. I’ve heard it several times. Talented people who want to stay, build, and contribute, but get stuck in work permit processes, bureaucracy, or uncertainty. It’s a bit of a paradox. We invest in attracting global talent but make it hard for them to actually stay and create. In a world where startups can be built anywhere, that’s a risk. IMO, if Switzerland wants to stay competitive, this matters. Not in a “nice to have” way, but in a “this shapes our future as an innovation hub” kind of way. So maybe the real question isn’t whether we need foreign talent, it’s how serious we are about enabling and keeping it. What are your thoughts on whether Switzerland should make it easier for international founders to stay and build? Swiss Startup Association article in the comments 👇

I published an article on "application identity as the unit of trust". Read how a semantic control plane can look in practice and what problem it solves. The article includes a workable minimum schema of an application identity as an example. This builds on last week's article on governance by application. https://lnkd.in/eFMYAEqE
