Travel Oregon...Hood River
Hood River, Oregon was our destination. We were going to farm country, to the Hood River Fruit Loop. Hood River is also known as the Wind Surfing Capital of the World. Get your adrenilan going wind surfing in the mighty Columbia River. But we were in search of cherries and peaches and the satisfaction of picking them right off the trees.
Oregon...Timberline Lodge, Mt. Hood
In the main hall of Timberline Lodge you can check out (and stay warm) around the huge fire place. It was made by WPA workers from the time of the Great Depression. The large fire place was make from rocks from the surrounding area. And the uphostery and drapes were made from fabrics woven by local WPA members.
Oregon Coast Roadtrip...Oceanside
The home of Oceanside cling to a cliff high above the Pacific Coast. they overlook the ocean. The overlook the three large rocks in the ocean that are a refuge to a quarter of a million seabirds a year. This rocky area was set aside as a Natural Wildlife Refuge by Theodore Roosevelt in 1907. Thank you, Mr. President. I feel like it is a refuge for me when I am there.
Oregon...Sauvie Island Farm Country
We spent a long morning U-Picking on Sauvie Island, just ten miles from Portland, Oregon. First we picked peaches and then visited another farm where we filled baskets with blueberries and blackberries. Make sure you don't leave Oregon without trying some fresh pies filled with Oregon fruits.
