Right on in our graham cracker pie crust, alright? Y'all want to make your own graham cracker pie crust? Go ahead. I don't mind. But I just like these store bought ones. You know, there's some things I always have at my house for like, you need a last-minute dessert, you can make something real quick. This is one of em, alright? Real easy. I'm just going to give this over a little shake and even if it cracks like that, that's totally fine. It happens. Alright, we're going to move that to the side. Now, we're going to take here three eggs. Oh, and y'all that's cherry cherry gel on my finger, okay? Not anything else just so y'all know. I want y'all to be freaking out. Freaking out on me. The Glove Police. Uh you know, usually the Glove Police are quiet but every once in a while, they sneak back in but then y'all give em a hard time. I like it. Thank you. Alright, we're going to mix this a little bit. Alright, until the three eggs, we're going to add one cup of milk. Look, when I do this, I feel fancy like like I'm on on a food show or something. I mean, I am kind of. I feel like this looks like on the food or something y'all. I don't know. It could just be in my head. One cup of milk. Half cup of apple sauce. Get this all out. Uh Now, y'all to this, I'm adding a box of vanilla cake. So, my new favorite way to make box cake is I'm going to take that out right away is I use I use the eggs it calls for so usually it's three eggs and instead of water now, I use milk. I think it taste better and then instead of oil, I use apple sauce. So, that's kind of like my thing I've been doing for all box cake I make. Unless it's like some kind of special hack that calls for something different but if you're just trying to make a box cake, I think that's the best way. Now, to this cake mix, we're going to doctor it up a little bit. Going to add a little bit of white chocolate chips. Now, this I'm just eyeballing this y'all. I don't know. A little bit of white chocolate chips. That's good. Not too many but as much as you want and then we also going to add some milk chocolate chips. About the same amount, alright? I don't know. That's good. Alright, that looks good. I'm going to get my whisk out for this because I feel like now, it's time to use the fork. So, I'm going to mix these chocolate chips in. Alright, y'all. If you want, like I said, if you want to use more chocolate chips, you can and you know, I don't know. I kind of feel like I might need a few more. Cherries and chocolate. That goes great together y'all. Alright. I don't know. Why was I even, why was I even stalling on adding more chocolate? Like, what was I thinking? I wasn't going to add more chocolate. Okay. Alright, that's perfect. Alright, y'all. So, now our next step here. We're taking our cherry pie filling and we're going to pour our our vanilla cake with our chocolate chips right on top, alright? So, this is kind of a version of let's see. I've made this before a a fruitcake pie. So, we're just going to let it set a little bit. Alright, let's see. I think that might be good. I think I think we might have enough filling in here. I'm going to save the rest for later. Actually, I'm going to make, I'm actually going to pour the rest in like loaf pan and make it but alright y'all again, can of cherries, yellow vanilla cake, sorry, vanilla cake mix with some chocolate chips. We're going to put this in the oven at 375 for about 30 minutes y'all and I'm so excited to show you all this delicious dessert. Alright, y'all. Here we have our cherry cake pie. Alright, I took this out of the oven a little while ago. Uh so, it's nice and cool now. So, what we're going to do here is do a little topping. So, I have some cool whip. So, I'm going to put this on top. Now remember if y'all use Cool Whip you gotta wait wait until your dessert cools off completely because otherwise this stuff will melt. And we don't want that. So remember y'all all I did here I put a can of cherries at the bottom of a graham cracker pie crust. And then we put a cake on top. We used I forgot if I used whiter yellow cake. I can't remember right now. But we made it with eggs, milk, apple sauce, and then we put some white and milk chocolate chips in it okay? So this is how we going to finish this. So y'all can even do leave this in the fridge for a little bit but I'm just going to try right now because why not? I'm hungry. I've been cooking all day but I'm still hungry y'all. Alright. Cocoa powder 1 1/2 c. whole milk, divided 1/2 c. heavy cream 5 egg yolks 4 tbsp all purpose flour Pinch salt 2 tbsp unsalted butter 1 tsp vanilla extract Whipped cream, for topping - (my homemade Vanilla Bean Cinnamon Whipped Cream will be posted soon!) 1. Blind bake pie dough: Preheat oven to 400F and line a 9 inch pie pan with pie dough. Crimp edges as desired. Line the dough with parchment paper and then fill with pie weights (or uncooked rice). Bake for 20 minutes and then remove parchment paper and weights and bake about another 10 minutes, or until edges and bottom are golden and dry. Set aside and cool. 2. In a medium sauce pan mix together sugar, espresso powder, cocoa powder, chopped chocolate, 1/2 c. Heavy cream and 1 c. whole milk. Whisk together and then heat on medium low until bubbly and combined, lower heat to simmer and whisk for 2-3 minutes. 3. In a large heat proof bowl, whisk together the remaining milk, egg yolks, flour, and salt until combined well. 4. Once combined, slowly whisk the hot, simmering chocolate into the egg mixture and then pour back into the saucepan (you want to make sure to do this SLOWLY so that the egg do not cook too quickly). 5. Cook over medium low heat, stirring constantly until thickened and bubbly, about 5ish minutes. Remove from heat and then stir in the butter and vanilla until completely melted and combined. 6. Pour the chocolate mix into the baked pie shell. 7. Refrigerated uncovered for at least 4 hours, up to overnight, before slicing. Serve with whipped cream if you’d like.
