Before we do almost anything, we are likely to expect a certain outcome. As human beings with an active mind and infinite wisdom, we naturally want predictability.

Freelance illustrator Stephan Schmitz has been creating work for newspapers, magazines and adverts since 2009. Based in Switzerland, his pared-back illustrations play with our expectations and often include a visual illusion or gimmick to hook us in.
