Recipe: 2-cups all purpose flour (plus more when kneading until it doesn’t stick to your hands) and for dusting the surface when rolling out. 1-teaspoon salt 1/4 cup lard 1-cup warm water Procedure: 1️⃣ In a bowl add the lard and mix until smooth, then add the flour and salt and combine well. 2️⃣ Add the warm water and mix well, let this rest for about 10 minutes then continue to add dustings of flour until it becomes a dough, drop to a floured surface and knead adding dustings of flour until it doesn’t stick to your hands. Add your flour & salt to your a mixing bowl for your stand mixer. 2. With the dough hook attachment, start mixing on a low speed. Slowly add in your lard/butter. 3. Once incorporated, slowly start adding in your hot water. It should be very hot almost near boiling. 4. Once all your water has been added it should be a semi sticky dough. If it looks too dry just add in a little water. 5. Mix on med speed for 5-8 mins until a nice smooth dough has formed. 6. Remove it and shape into a nice ball. Add it back to mixing bowl. Maria Ximena on Instagram: "Make your own tortillas de harina: simple and delicious! 370g (About 2 1/2 cups) of Flour 1 1/4 tsp of Salt 1 tsp of Baking Powder 80g of Lard or Vegetable shortening (1/3 cup) 1 cup of hot Water 1.Mix all dry ingredients (flour, salt and baking powder. 2.Mix in the lard 3.Add and mix in the hot water. (Please be careful, use mixing spatula if too hot). 4.Cut dough into desired tortilla size. Cover with damp towel or shrink wrap so the dough doesn’t dry out. 5.Flatten the dough with your hands, sprinkle flour on table and then roll out the dough. (Note: try to use as little flour possible to not dry out the dough) 6.Place tortilla on a hot griddle, bubbles should form on the tortillas.
