How to Make Chai Hot Toddies

30min · 2 servings 3 cups water 1 cinnamon stick 6 whole cloves 6 cardamom pods, slightly crushed 2 chai tea bags ¼ cup spiced rum or bourbon 2 tablespoons honey 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice or 2 lemon wedges Step 1 Combine water, cinnamon stick, cloves and cardamom pods in a medium saucepan. (If you have a tea infuser, you can put the spices in that to avoid having to strain the mixture.) Bring to a simmer, then remove from heat and add tea bags. Cover and steep for 15 minutes. Strain through a fine-mesh sieve; discard the tea bags and spices. Step 2 Return the spiced tea to the pan and reheat until warm. Stir in rum (or bourbon), honey and lemon juice, if using.
