hanging basket filled with flowers and greenery in front of a porch text reads hanging basket hack
2.2K reactions · 30 comments | When I’m working with a large hanging basket, I like to use every inch of it! #hooksandlatticepartner This Large English Garden Hanging Basket from @hooksandlattice is 18” wide and 9” deep, with plenty of room for planting and a steel frame, chain, and hook that can handle the weight of wet soil and a full arrangement. To make the most of that space, I cut six holes into the coconut coir liner and tucked in Creeping Jenny, Black Sweet Potato Vine, and Browallia as I added soil. Then I planted the top with Persian Shield, Dragon Wing Begonias, more Browallia, and Euphorbia. Starting with side plantings helps you skip the awkward wait and enjoy full, flowing arrangements sooner! Grab one of these baskets while they’re in stock—I linked them in stories! 💥Save 20% on your entire purchase at HooksandLattice.com with my code: containedcreations. *Offer excludes shutters. ⛅️PS: This combo likes Partial Shade (3 to 6 hours of sun per day). #hangingbasket #gardeninghacks #containergardeningideas #containergardening #gardentips #containerdesign #porchplanters #hayrackplanters #verticalgardening | Contained Creations | Facebook

1.6K reactions · 15 shares | What do bugs and my lungs have in common? They both dry up and die when hit with Diatomaceous Earth. Today we are looking at what diatomaceous earth is, how it works and some of the pros and cons of using it. Turns out, sprinkling prehistoric murder powder around your garden is totally legal and oddly satisfying. #dt #diatomaceousearth #bug #bugs #beetles #insect #insects #pollinator #garden #gardening #gardeningtips #tip #tips #helpful #funfact #funfacts #helpful #fact #powder #fossil #homestead #homesteading #theshilohfarm #plant #plants | The Shiloh Farm | Facebook
a man sitting on the ground holding a potted plant
18K reactions · 530 shares | Today we are back and I am showing you one of my favourite garden tips for this time of the year, which is not only super simple, cheap and easy to do, but it can save you hours each day, and allow you to leave your plants in complete peace if you need to go away for a few days. Now one of the most common questions I get asked is how can I grow food/maintain my garden, when I have to work and live a busy life. Well one of the most time consuming parts about gardening is keeping on top of your watering requirements. While you are at work or away, your plants will often need a little drink, so when you get back home you will be busy with the watering can. However, by using just a few unglazed terracotta pots, you can actually water your plants on autopilot! All you need to do is plug the drainage hole, I use tacky or blue tac but you can use a cork too, and bury it next to your plants. It’s important to note, I highly recommend using a lid to prevent evaporation, and this will only work to its full with unglazed terracotta. This method of watering has been used for years and years and you can even buy special pots called an olla, which are amazing but can be quite expensive, I just use an old pot instead 🤣 How far the water will reach will depend on quite a few factors, but in my soil, on average one 5L pot will water at least 2/3 sq ft, and can last up to a week, depending on the weather. If you have a pot that’s about 50cm in diameter or less one 5L terracotta pot should easily keep that watered. Please let me know if you have any questions, and as always thank you for watching, and I love you all, Joe 😊🌱 #watering #gardentips #gardening #zerowaste #planttips | Joseph Clark | Facebook
a person holding two tomatoes in their hand next to some carrots on the ground
1.7K reactions · 141 shares | Don’t wait too long! When your tomatoes just start to turn red — called the breaker stage — most of their flavor is already locked in. That’s the perfect time to harvest! If you leave them on the vine too long, you’re gambling with pests, birds, or even a sudden storm stealing your hard work. If you want them a little deeper red, just pop them by a sunny windowsill and let them finish ripening safely indoors. Pick them now or risk losing them later. Trust me — you’ll be glad you did. #tomatoes #growingtomatoes #tomatogarden #gardening #gardeningtips #tomatoes🍅 #tomatoplant #tomatogrowing #vegetablegarden | Third Coast Gardening | Facebook

I’ve purchased strawberries from a variety of places, but the plants from @starkbros have done the best for me. Comment 🍓 and I’ll send you the details on where to get my favorite strawberry plants! And, of course, getting them in the right spot with healthy soil is incredibly important! Cheap Plants, Plant Bugs, Garden Prepping, Garden Chic, Strawberry Garden, Basil Plant, Summer Tomato, Growing Strawberries, Garden Greenhouse
441K views · 65K reactions | Today we are back and I am showing you how anyone can grow more fresh summer strawberries, than you will know what to do with and it all starts with just a couple of cheap little plants from the shops. Now I adore growing fresh fruit at home and it is easier than many people might think. The best part about strawberries is not only are they vertically impossible to grow wrong, but they will thrive in small gardens, balconies and if it’s very sunny, even a windowsill, and with a few quick trips you will be growing more summer strawberries than you can eat! You can start strawberries from seed but this is quite a long a fiddly process. So I like to start with bare root plants if I am doing this from October to March, or potted plants from mid March onwards. Simply pot them on in a good compost, and after a few weeks they will grow leaps and bounds, possibly producing flowers too. You will notice these runners coming from your plant. Now these are what you use to propagate your plants to create more for free. Simply poke them into the soil, water and after a couple of weeks they will root. Each strawberry plant can easily produce 6 or more new plants, so you can see after a few years of doing this how you can end up with hundreds. It’s important to note when you have as many plants as you need, remove runners as they form as they take a lot of energy away from producing fruits. Strawberries are perennial, so they die back as it cools off and then come back the following spring. I’ve found most strawberries have a four year life cycle, then they need to be replaced with a new plant which will crop better. Thank you so much for watching, I love you all, Joe 😊🌱💚 #Strawberry #gardening #gardentips #zerowaste #harvest | Joseph Clark | Facebook
