zoom sewing day.....

It was a big day once again and I got lots of sewing done too so even better.......
Its just too wet to do anything around the farm so I signed off for the day........
The garden light catching the drips of water on the trees was pretty.......its was so wet with dew but not raining............this was when I headed out to the Chookshed to start zoom...........
zoom kicked off bright and early as usual and I was working on the binding I had attached on Friday afternoon..........I started stitching it down Friday night and got it finished first up Saturday morning on zoom.............
At one point I could not get out the door due to Bridget blocking the door.........
she loves camping on the deck..........
once that binding was finished I started on Miss Elizabeth............I had found some fabrics in a box that needed to be glued so I did that then I thought I would join them............
by the end of the day I got the three rows joined up............there was only about 10 joined at the start of the day............I realised I need 4 sets of this and I only have 3 sets made so need to cut some more fabrics for a few more hexies.......that would explain why I had spare hexies..........woops.......
&&&&
zoom was a wonderful mix of girls popping in and out all day...........
with so many time zones you never know whos popping in when..........
some stay up really late........others rise super early.........35 girls from 7 countries joined in and it is amazing how wide and varied our topics are during the day..........and we are always learning something about another country............
This was the creek on Friday afternoon and it is the same or slightly higher this morning............
it was such a warm day yesterday I had to turn the air on on in the Chookshed for a few patches........cloudy again this morning...........hoping for some dry days so I can go to town...............
Check out a few new patchwork shops..........
ok best go find a quilt binding, cut some more hexies and photograph a few quilts if I can find mud free spots.............
Have a wonderful Sunday...........

PS I will be starting a new scrappy churn dash quilt if anyone wants to join me.......theres a few keen.........

Twisters.............Part 8

Given Janice and I brought a bundle of fabric each back in 2013 to make out twister quilts......life happened and we never got to make them together........so we had both located our fabric bundles again complete with notes - who knew I could be so organised.........
Anyway we decided to make them at Scrub Stitchin' so we mentioned to the girls what we were doing and if anyone wanted to join us please do............
Jo flew out the gate and the above and below results..........Love the brights...........
Janice threw Jo a challenge to make a mini twister with the left overs............Now this does not use the 5in template...........I think it's more like 3.5 or 4in..............
its one Janice made up..........
Jo being Jo jumped right in and made this from her left overs.............its about 12in square..........I love it........she turned it into a placemat/cutlery holder..........
Jenny made this blue and green version..........
My mum used to say "blue and green should never be seen" I always wore it together as I love the combination.........
It looked great twisted........
My niece wanted to make something...........
so she made a table runner using 5in squares........
Cut out ready to resew...........
It takes a village to raise a child and thanks to the team effort Izzy got her runner done and even machine sewed the binding down........Thanks everyone for your help......you know who you are........
Mary made this pretty Tilda version.......
I missed taking photos of her runner.........and I had to get this photo from Mary
This one was mine.........
First border after twisting...............
Second border on............the quilt does drop in size as you use 10 in blocks and they reduce to 8in when cut............but i added size back to mine with the borders...........
Loving the colours so far.......
Janice had the same fabrics but chose not to use the whites..........
Different look even though we are the same..........I do like the lines coming thru also...........she has borders to add to this also.......
And Brenda..........she made this runner............
What fun the twisters are.......I will be making more............
A couple other girls Julie and Peta got the tops pieced but didn't have the first border fabric so got stalled.......I'm sure we will see them finished next year.......
This ends the Scrub Stitchin' retreat posts and back to regular posts..........
I have a few finished quilts to share and some other bits and pieces..........
Onto binding my 3rd quilt this month........
I know i'm just as shocked.........

Sat/zoom.........Part 3

Saturday started bright and early with zoom at 6am...........all the blog girls joined in either in the room or when the echo was playing up Jenny went outside and found Sue........
Even Jo @ Butter Z got out of bed for this which was a major milestone........as we all know mornings and Jo don't mix.........but then it was the "zoom girls"
Anyway back to Jenny and Sue they did the outside broadcast........Sue snapped this pic of Jennys Ipad...........I completely forgot to think of taking a pic at all............how bad is that.......I think you all enjoyed the tour around the room and the show and tell that we could find in people's spots..............was fun to have you join us even if it was only for an hour........and it was pretty hectic............
Bloggers at retreat.......
Beside Jo listed above........
Jenny @ Bird on the Border
Janice @ Jannimary
Sue @ Kiwi Kid
Jindi @ Jindi's Cottage
The outside broadcasters also captured this photo while out zooming....
Sun just rising......the ground are always so peaceful.....lots of birds including one blue faced honey eater who decided it needed to swoop everyone every time they moved between the cabins and dining room.......Only a few people using the caravan park..........nothing on at the showground while we were there so very peaceful...........Mind you every second lady in a caravan must have been a quilter..........we had a few pop there heads in and say g'day once they knew what we were doing.........
One guy was asking if we had a conference.........I said I suppose you can say that.........he then said we worked very late..........I said we are sewing and we sew from early until very very late..............
having done the second cut on the twister quilt I worked on joining more of my quilt top..........
Joining using a new to me method that Jo showed me.........
managed to not stuff it up even..........
Lea's quilt.........love it especially the pops of orange spread thru it..........
Jo's mini version made from her quilt leftovers........Janice has a stupid small twister template and challenged Jo to make this...........Of course we all know Jo likes a challenge and she had this made in no time.........She ended up turning it into placemat/cutlery holder.......
Tina was making these gorgeous pineapples...........love the colours...........can't remember if there are two or three more rows.............
it was a busy day............Mum made scones again for morning tea..........sorry no pics.......and I guess during the day I was busy and didn't think to take photos.......
Catch you later...........

Happy days.........

Its the happiest day of the year.....end of daylight savings.........

It is so dark of a morning at the moment.......If we must have it, it should of finished end of February..........It's just so hard to get started of a morning.........

Having said that I am writing this post at 3.50am due to inability to sleep.........

The days sure are closing in and there has been a drop in the temps and the feeling of the change of season...........Its been a super mild summer...........
&&&
Thanks for all the comments on the "cotton" post..........I love that I have my little plant growing in the garden and a few more of the bolls have popped open.......

4  SLEEPS........OMG I am so excited..........I cannot wait to see the girls.........I need to wash the car and pack it up ASAP incase there is some rain and I need to be able to get out of here sooner........the dirt road is terrible and I noticed so many more potholes/ruts after this last rain this week which was not much.......its beyond normal maintenance repair now.......

Janice and I are going to make our twister quilts at Scrub Stitchin'..........we put it out to the girls if anyone else wanted to join us and there's a few more making some also...........can't wait to see what they all look like.............
I tried to join Rose Marie@Applique 'n Patch in her binding challenge with Mary.......I failed again but I did maybe get a foot done............it's progress but not enough.........I will get one done this month..........

Have a great weekend.........
Catch you later.......
