Spinning at 45rpm, this 7-inch delivers two sinister tracks—”Little Witch” and “The Monster of the Wildsee Forest”—a spellbinding blend of eerie vocals, sinister guitar riffs, creepy rumbling bassline, ghostly baritone saxophone and bone-chilling drums that will send shivers down your spine and perfectly capture the Halloween spirit.
Legend has it that on a dark and stormy night, Chaputa! conjured LOLA LOLA to create a single with two songs under the macabre influence of Halloween.
In the spirit of “Trick or Treat,” they accepted the challenge, on the condition that the artwork be done in the unmistakable style of Mr. Esgar, who had to break an old promise to his label—the one to never draw a record sleeve himself!
Thus, in a shadowy, flickering landscape, with sinister trees, a haunted cabin, a blood-dripping pumpkin lantern, and a wicked witch brewing mischief under a crescent moon, comes LOLA LOLA’s latest release, their seventh 7-inch record (7th of 7’’).
“Little Witch” opens the album, telling the story of a young witch who evolves into a powerful sorceress, discovering hidden powers and secret rituals. The track is both energetic and melodic, capturing the dark essence of the character.
Flip the record to hear “The Monster of the Wildsee Forest,” a track that takes us into a cursed black forest inhabited by a terrible monster made of gold. It inevitably lures the most adventurous, only to devour their greedy souls with a scream whose brutality inspires fear, dragging the song into a dense, suffocating, and terrifying atmosphere.
LOLA LOLA, composed of Carla Capela on vocals, Tiago Gil on guitar, Miguel Lourenço on bass, Hélder Coelho on drums, and Rui Teixeira on baritone saxophone, delivers a wicked performance that will have you dancing with the undead all night long.
