I think a man needs to be a man. To hold a woman the way she wants to be held. Just do whatever your woman wants, and you'll be fine.

Oh that voice. Those dimples. That smile. That fierce masculinity.

Today we are celebrating the 50th birthday of beautiful Jeffrey Dean Morgan who is on his way to steal your girl ALL of Norman Reedus and Andrew Lincoln's fangirls on The Walking Dead.

Tom Hardy Appreciation

By s. Tuesday, September 15, 2015 30 Comments
Edward Thomas Hardy
September 15, 1977 (London, England, UK)

Today is 38th birthday of the wonderfully talented and crazy intense Tom Hardy. He might have been 2 hours long late to the set each day during the making of Fury Road,  He might have been punching directors in the dick/chocking them(whichever happened on The Revenant set and was apparently, really justified) and he most definitely is every journalist's worst nightmare (1,2),

but damn if he isn't a sweetheart:

Stephen Dillane Appreciation

Stephen Dillane

I have to phrase this perfectly: I'm just not convinced that the attention we give to creating what we think of as a character isn't actually quite often the means by which an actor overcomes his own terror of standing there onstage and creating a mask to hide behind.

Tom Hiddleston Appreciation

Thomas William Hiddleston

Never stop. Never stop fighting. Never stop dreaming. And don’t be afraid of wearing your heart on your sleeve – in declaring the films that you love, the films that you want to make, the life that you’ve had, and the lives you can help reflect in cinema. For myself, for a long time… maybe I felt inauthentic or something, I felt like my voice wasn’t worth hearing, and I think everyone’s voice is worth hearing. So if you’ve got something to say, say it from the rooftops.

Sarah Paulson Appreciation

Sarah Catharine Paulson

I was constantly, always and forever, trying to perform the musical Annie for anyone who would listen, and I have a terrible singing voice. It was the first thing that made me think I wanted to be an actress.

I take my work enormously seriously. When I do something it has to feel right. Everything has to be right. I’m not ambitious about my career, but I am ambitious with each job. I can be fairly annoying to work with. No compromises. Let’s put it this way: compromises are from hell

Richard Armitage Appreciation

By s. Thursday, August 22, 2013 6 Comments
Richard Armitage
22 August, 1971 (Leicester, Leicestershire, England, UK)

Today let's celebrate the talent and the general hotness of Richard Armitage. He was the best thing about last year's Hobbit and now he is being considered to be new Batman, I'm fairly certain he would be the best thing about that one too. Shockingly he doesn't seem to be in high demand after The Hobbit, which is odd considering his natural charisma and indisputable talent.

He appeared in several TV series, including Spooks and the first season of Strike Back, which unfortunately he had to leave to shoot The Hobbit. I'm saying unfortunately, because his character there - John Porter - is my favorite among the ones he played and his departure was handled very poorly in the show. Hopefully, there are a lot of great roles in his future, because I really want to see more of him in movies. Or - you know, Game of Thrones. They still didn't cast any of the Greyjoys, so I'm just throwing it out there.

Richard Madden Appreciation

By s. Tuesday, June 18, 2013 18 Comments
Richard Madden
June 18, 1986 (Elderslie, Renfrewshire, Scotland, UK)

Hey, remember 3 weeks ago when Robb was still alive and we still had hope? If his storyline taught us anything it's: never bang a nurse. And if you absolutely have to - for the love of God, don't marry her.

Seriously, though, today on the occasion of Richard Madden's 27th birthday I've been continuing my frantic art making for tumblr meme and I realized it's unbelievable how much I'm going to miss him and his on-screen mother Michelle Fairley on the show. Though because of the writers ridiculous bias towards Daenerys, Robb and Catelyn didn't get enough of screen time, it's mostly because of Madden and Fairley that it was impossible not to want good things to happen for the Starks.

Emily Blunt Appreciation

Emily Olivia Leah Blunt

I hate hearing actors going on about how difficult their lives are. I’m not on a minimum wage, working in McDonald’s, trying to bring up a family. Actors are so indulged in many ways, really.

Alan Rickman Appreciation

By s. Thursday, February 21, 2013 35 Comments
Alan Sidney Patrick Rickman
February 21, 1946 (Hammersmith, London, England, UK)

I’m never really looking for anything. I’m looking to be surprised and to have one’s instincts engaged with a piece of writing rather than anything planned. I think if you make decisions before you read something, then you’re not free. I’d much rather just turn page one and start to get a flavor of a character. That’s what an actor is, I think. You’re a bundle of instincts that you fling at something called training, and you hope training orders it a bit for you so that you can make choices, but ultimately you’re dependent on your instincts and your imagination, and that’s something you can’t pin down.

Michael Sheen Appreciation

By s. Tuesday, February 5, 2013 14 Comments
Michael Christopher Sheen
February 5, 1969 (Newport, Gwent, Wales, UK)

“Well, I think your successes depend on your failures. In a way, whether something succeeds or fails doesn’t matter at all–the point is that you strive, that you take risks, and that you challenge yourself. By doing so, inevitably some of those risks are going to pay off, and some of them are going to turn into what would be considered failures. But when you look back it’s very hard to disentangle the successes from the failures. It’s all a process.”

Patricia Clarkson Appreciation

By s. Saturday, December 29, 2012 25 Comments
Patricia Davies Clarkson
December 29, 1959 (New Orleans, Louisiana, USA)

It makes perfect sense that such an enchanting creature was born in the World's most magical place. Patricia Clarkson is one of my favorite actresses working today. She always brings so much charisma and warmth to her roles. In addition to that, she frequently plays the world's coolest mom - in Easy A, Friends with Benefits and One Day, only to name the few. But the kind of roles I enjoy her most in are the free spirited, artistic types - she played the wonderful character of Sarah O'Connor in acclaimed HBO series Six Feet Under. That role brought her two well deserved Emmy awards.

Ralph Fiennes Appreciation

By s. Saturday, December 22, 2012 29 Comments
Ralph Nathaniel Twisleton-Wykeham-Fiennes
December 22, 1962 (Ipswich, Suffolk, England, UK)

Today is the 50th (!) birthday of one of my absolute favorite actors - Ralph Fiennes. The only thing longer than his real name is the list of the outstanding performances he has given over the years - it was actually hard to choose only 10. His work as Amon Goeth in Steven Spielberg's Schindler's List is my number 3 on the finest performances of all time list. In addition, his performance as Harry in In Bruges is one of the funniest things I've seen in my life.
