Today is Galentine's Day, the day during which we celebrate our beloved female friends. But tomorrow is the dreaded Valentine's Day. There's plenty of romantic films out there, hell, romance is featured in one way or another in most movies so I figured, as a bitter spinster (Jason Momoa is already taken, so why bother?), I'll bring you the list of films you can safely enjoy without the risk of accidentally watching moronic proposals in the work place, romantic chases on the airport, weddings, babies and all of that cute crap.

Before I publish my entire Best and Worst of 2017 list - and that's gonna be next Sunday - there is still one more separate list to publish. Most of these shots are pretty self explanatory but if I had additional thoughts or explanation I added that. Here are my choices for 35 best shots of 2017:

Here we go! It's time to start my best of lists. I i still have few movies left to see before I finish my epic Best and Worst list - I think there are nearly 70 categories there this year, including The Post and Phantom Thread, but since it's almost the time for Academy Award nominations and most bloggers are publishing their best of 2017 lists already, I decided to start with mine too, especially that I doubt any of the films I have left to watch from 2017 could get into top 10 here.

(spoilers!)
Every Christopher Nolan's movie is an event. In the world were practically every big, spectacular movie out there is a part of a franchise, Nolan is one of the few who still manages to do something unique. And while Dunkirk is yet another huge movie event that surprises, it surprises in more than one way. Nolan often works with complex stories and world building- the magnificent magic tricks he pulls on the audience throughout The Prestige with the film's multiple twists and misdirections, the complex way to unlock the film's mystery rooted in the infliction of protagonist of Memento, the layered world of dreams in Inception - here the story is simple. Soldiers are in need of rescue. Other soldiers and ordinary people are trying to help them. Meanwhile the enemy is trying to kill them all.
