Most anticipated movies in 2020

By s. Monday, December 30, 2019 , , , , , , , , , , , 30 Comments
Before I start publishing my best and worst of 2019 lists, here's that time of year again to get excited about what's coming in next year. There's so many wonderful movies on the horizon, including several very anticipated sequels. And my top pick already feels like potential best Christmas gift ever. Here we go:

Saturday TV Special: 20 best moments in Breaking Bad

By s. Saturday, October 5, 2019 , , 12 Comments
We are now only 6 days away from the follow up to one of the most acclaimed TV series of all time, Breaking Bad. I wasn't a big fan of finale, which I wrote about at length after it aired. The rewatch did make me appreciate it a bit more but it fixed none of its many problems. So for me this is like another chance to give the series the proper ending. There's the risk they will mess it up - especially since the shot of Jesse laughing as he was driving away was just so, so perfect - but to quote someone else on letterboxd - I hope Vince Gilligan won't fuck us on this.

5 best things I watched this year (so far)

By s. Sunday, September 1, 2019 , , , , , , 20 Comments
It's August already (what the fuck, right?). While the Oscar season is not yet here I gotta say I don't really care about it this year since my last anticipated movie of the year premieres in 5 days and there's no way in hell Academy nominates anyone from a horror movie. Anyways, there's still 4 months till my end of the year list is completed. I'm sure there's still many interesting movies and TV series to be released this year, but it looks like a sure bet that the three movies I'm about to talk about here will be in my top 10 of 2019. And I also have to feature TV categories in my awards this year, because as you are about to read, TV is officially better than movies this year.

10 best scenes in Stranger Things 3

By s. Sunday, July 21, 2019 , 17 Comments
Recently I made list where I chose 10 best scenes in Stranger Things from season 1 and season 2. It was actually even harder to choose 10 scenes just from season 3. This is my favorite season so far and I just keep reweatching it. The wait for season 4 is already really excruciating, so let's take a look at some of the best moments again:

Top 5: Male characters I love the most

By s. Tuesday, July 16, 2019 , , , , , 35 Comments
Because I'm bored and I'm shallow I decided to make a list today. Going through all of my crushes would be impossible so I decided to narrow things down. Today, my lovely readers who I judge only a little bit for reading this website to begin with, we are not going to focus on the actors I love. No, we are going to focus on the characters I love (that also happen to be played by the actors I love).

10 best scenes in Stranger Things

By s. Tuesday, July 2, 2019 , 17 Comments

After rewatching the entire series last week, just in time for season 3 which arrives the day after tomorrow, I decided to comply the list of 10 best moments on the show so far. It wasn't easy as this series has so many fantastic sequences but somehow, I managed. Here we go!:

10 best moments in John Wick films

By s. Sunday, June 2, 2019 , , , 24 Comments
Action movies are usually looked down on. Even a franchise as successful as The Fast and the Furious is seen like a lesser movie, because it's light on plot and heavy on explosions, shootouts and car chases. But what if there was an action franchise that included the scenes of shootouts and car chases so well made, done with such creativity and visual splendor, not only you wouldn't miss the complex and intricate plot but you would be happy simply watching those action scenes for hours?

That's John Wick franchise.

10 best performances in Quentin Tarantino's films

By s. Tuesday, April 16, 2019 , , , , , , , 27 Comments

I recently rewatched almost all of Tarantino's films - other than Death Proof because seeing it once was enough - and I decided to finally rank my favorite performances in his films. It wasn't easy and a lot of great ones - like Lucy Liu's O-Ren Ishii - didn't make the cut - but it was also lots of fun to go back and appreciate that amazing work. So here we go:

Screaming Sunday: 10 best horror films since 2010

By s. Sunday, March 31, 2019 , , , , , , , , , , , 30 Comments
We are witnessing a wonderful time for horror movies. It seems like every year there are several that cause a lot of excitement and end up being very worthy inclusions to the "best of" horror genre. With Us, a movie which I thought was executed wonderfully but the writing was mediocre, getting a lot of attention I thought I'd list the 10 best horror films released since 2010. Here we go:

10 films WITHOUT romantic subplot to enjoy on Valentine's Day

By s. Wednesday, February 13, 2019 , , , , , , , , , , 38 Comments

Today is Galentine's Day, the day during which we celebrate our beloved female friends. But tomorrow is the dreaded Valentine's Day. There's plenty of romantic films out there, hell, romance is featured in one way or another in most movies so I figured, as a bitter spinster (Jason Momoa is already taken, so why bother?), I'll bring you the list of films you can safely enjoy without the risk of accidentally watching moronic proposals in the work place, romantic chases on the airport, weddings, babies and all of that cute crap.

5 films from Sundance I look forward to

By s. Wednesday, January 30, 2019 , , , , , 16 Comments
Sundance festival, where often times some of the most exciting movies of the year premiere, is happening right now. I was reading reviews of the films that were shown there this week and few of those sound really exciting. The best part? We only have to wait 2 days for one of those!:

Ranking: Trailers for Awards contenders 2018

By s. Wednesday, October 24, 2018 , , , , , , , , , , 14 Comments
With Oscar season upon us I thought it will be fun to choose the best marketing so far for awards contenders. I was originally going to do top 10 but honestly couldn't find this many good trailers - there's Welcome to Marwen which trailer is laughably bad, First Man trailers which are all pretty damn meh and stuff that looks so bland that I don't even wanna see those films (Boy Erased, Ben is Back). So I came up with 8 best ones, first 3 of which are truly spectacular.

and...10 more great uses of songs in movie trailers

By s. Wednesday, May 9, 2018 , , 20 Comments
And one more time, here are 10 more awesome uses of songs in teasers and trailers (part 1part 2). This time it's only movies. We'll probably gonna have these posts every once in a while since practically all I listen to are either soundtracks or trailer songs and clearly there is no shortage of awesome Imagine Dragons songs they can use flawlessly to market a movie.

10 more great uses of songs in movie/TV series trailers

By s. Wednesday, December 13, 2017 , , 14 Comments
Last week we looked at 10 trailers which used songs to great effect. Since I don't wanna trash The Snowman joylessly in a review of it and would rather just whine about it in RF BUT I also want to have at least some content around here, let's look at 10 more:

10 great uses of songs in movie/TV series trailers

By s. Wednesday, December 6, 2017 , , 12 Comments
This is just off the top of my head and by no meants "Greatest of all Time" kind of list because there are just way too many examples like that to choose from. One of the things I love about trailers is when they use the music to great effect (such as the recent Rampage trailer with awesome use of Smashing Pumpkins' song). We're not talking about the epic trailer music or a well known theme from another film used to great effect (Requiem for a Dream music used in The Two Towers trailer), but just a skillful use of song. Here are some of the examples that came to mind:

Top 10 performances in Christopher Nolan's movies

By s. Wednesday, August 30, 2017 , , , , , , , , 17 Comments

Christopher Nolan's movies have given us a lot of wonderful things - exceptional sequences, wonderful cinematography, fantastic music. But most of all they have given us wonderful performances, often times the very best from the talented actors who appeared in Nolan's film's. Here's my list of the 10 best of them.

(Probably endless) list of things I love about Logan, part 3

By s. Wednesday, August 2, 2017 , , 13 Comments
(part 1) (part 2)

136. Logan growling in his sleep, waking up and seeing Laura there, watching him. It's a blessing she wasn't anywhere near him since we all know what happens to women when Logan wakes up near them.

(Probably endless) list of things I love about Logan, part 2

By s. Monday, July 24, 2017 , , 20 Comments
(Part 1 - here)

74. Logan noticing one of the bad guys and doing this. Oh, good. You're invisible now.

75..The desperation on Logan's face. He left. Charles and Laura are in danger. He needs to save them.

(Probably endless) list of things I love about Logan, part 1

By s. Sunday, July 16, 2017 , , 25 Comments

6 days ago it has been exactly 4 months since I saw Logan for the very first time. Since that moment I saw the movie 4 more times including once with director's commentary (I have never ever watched anything with commentary before but for this movie I made an exception and it's really a great one - James Mangold shares so much in it and I will cite some of the things I learned from there here). It's July and Logan remains my favorite movie of the year and seeing how it's already in my top 10 of all time - yes, all time - I cannot imagine anything dethroning it.

So once more, inspired by Alex's brilliant series, - here are the things I loved about James Mangold's masterpiece.
