Since 2015, Cities and Memory has grown from one field recording made under a bridge in Oxford into one of the world's biggest sound projects, with more than 2,000 artists and recordists contributing more than 7,000 sounds from all over the world.

All of life is contained in Cities and Memory, as captured through the sounds that surround us, and this is an introduction to how we listen to the world.

This album collects together some of the highlights from the first ten years of the project, showcasing the range of artistic approaches, types of sound, locations around the world and the huge diversity of sound projects we have developed.

Here you'll find everything from the incredible songs of humpback whales to the clatter of obsolete typewriters, moments of prayer and reflection, natural soundscapes and journeys through iconic cities - all reimagined by the collective imagination of our community of artists.

Contributions tackle issues as broad as human migration, sonic heritage, sustainability and climate change, with artistic styles from ambient drone and electronica to spoken word, poetry, songwriting and much more.

Woah, what comp! Every track on here is deserving of attention. But this one track stood out to me the most. The Lying Children seem to have a unique sound, its very intriguing! It was also nice hearing vocals on a ambient track! Defiantly going to look more into these guys! I Walked Bob Dylan On Stage!
